GOPers eye Donald Trump for governor run

Source: NY Post

Increasingly desperate New York Republicans, seeking the political equivalent of a Hail Mary pass, are trying to get Donald Trump to run against Gov. Cuomo next year, The Post has learned.

They’re seeking to make the case that while Trump is only an apprentice politician, he’s the only Republican on the horizon who has the name recognition, guts and money to tell Cuomo, “You’re fired!”

They’re also arguing that Trump could launch a 2016 presidential run — which he has clearly been eyeing with his criticisms of President Obama and Washington — by first winning the election for governor.

So far, Trump, who only recently learned of the effort, which is backed by state GOP Chairman Ed Cox and other party leaders, hasn’t said a flat “no.’’

This is why I haven't given Cuomo a penny; with this kind of desperation, Cuomo has nothing to worry about.

Yeah, go ahead and run that idiot for governor. Since only about 30 percent of the population is brain dead (the ones who say Obama is responsible for the Republican shut down/ extortion) the Donald has a snowballs chance in hell of being elected to anything.

Even he can see how it would end up, and his ego wouldn't be able to stand that kind of shellacking. Besides, in political debates the other side gets to speak too. He doesn't want to hear it, notoriously thin skinned.

As a New Yorker, I would love to be able to add my vote to his humiliating defeat.

I don't consider him to be smart, but I agree he is smart enough to know he doesn't stand a chance.

I can think of few thinss as useful to Democrats, both in NY and around the nation than to have The Donald continually featured prominently as one of the leading faces of the new Republcian Prty. Trump would lose and lose bad of course, as will any Republcan candidate. But unlike the typical low profile sacrificial lamb who Republicans will otherwise run, Trump would be a high profile disaster. The sound bites will be priceless.
