Establishment GOPers Assail Tea Party on Shutdown

Source: ABC News

From county chairmen to national party luminaries, veteran Republicans across the country are accusing tea party lawmakers of staining the GOP with their refusal to bend in the budget impasse in Washington.

The Republican establishment also is signaling a willingness to strike back at the tea party in next fall's elections.

"It's time for someone to act like a grown-up in this process," former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu argues, faulting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and tea party Republicans in the House as much as President Barack Obama for taking an uncompromising stance.

Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is just as pointed, saying this about the tea party-fueled refusal to support spending measures that include money for Obama's health care law: "It never had a chance."

Teabaggers need to split off into a third party. That'd show 'em!

You have lost control of your party, and it is crapping all over America and Americans -- something that will be remembered for years to come.

You are to blame. You let this happen. You went AWOL from sanity and responsibility. You gave birth to the DEteaMons who now afflict the honest, decent citizens of these United States. YOU should be ashamed of yourselves.

12. One thing is important to keep in mind here, though. We can't just sit and watch.

We have to HELP this along.

We can't just assume the national sentiment will just stay with us. We have to REMAIN ON GUARD. Because the teabaggers won't take this as a defeat. They are unchastened. They STILL believe they are correct and God is on their side and they won't admit defeat. They won't see the light. They'll just refuse delivery. Look at their track record in face of all the other facts and reality out there!

I believe they can be counted on to continue pushing back. To continue bailing on the Titanic. To continue to insist that theirs is the only true way. They have to keep fighting and keep being renegades and keep being obstinate - to save face. It's too painful for them to admit they were wrong. You think ted cruz will EVER admit he's ever been anything BUT correct?????? Hell, he doesn't even answer direct questions - about this or ANYTHING else!!!! Besides, they're not man enough. They're not adult enough. They're spoiled-brat, snot-nosed three-year-olds in adult bodies.

We have to help buttress this and support this and keep the drumbeat going on this. Memories are short. We thought Hurricane Katrina was enough to prove that government is necessary and a good thing to have. That lasted for a few days, alright. And then the backsliding. Then Hurricane Sandy. That clearly lasted only a few days. And there's STILL backsliding. There will be backsliding here, yet again. And we have to make sure the backward movement is contained and minimized. It's up to us. You really want to trust that chuck todd-blossom and jonathan karl and wolf blitzer and candy crowley and david gregory and george stephanopolous and the lot of 'em will continue our narrative, and stay on it and sustain this? Do you expect the backbone that Dems are showing now will prevail - on its own?

I certainly wouldn't. It's up to us.

had their Tea-hadist experiment worked.

But of course, it didn't, America is paying a heavy price for that idiotic experiment and the GOP,

THE GOP ALONE

bears the burden of responsibility.

Hey,
That's exactly what I was thinking. Funny when you have these nutjobs criticizing the other nutjobs for being just a little bit kookier than they are.

9. They should have seen this coming, they brought in Palin whish was a little crazy and made

Lots of money off her crazy lines, it did not stop, they collect more crazies, threatened to primary candidates such as Bennett in Utah and replaced him with Lee, add some more crazies. Incomes Ted Cruz who apparently thought he would be the first dictator and just to show his ability he took on Congress just to show how easy it could be done. He captured the Republicans who went along and they should have shown strength, especially Boehner but they like little sheep followed. The act has been complete, Teddy isn't the great dictator he thought he was, the president and Democrats did not play fair.

15. Tea Party = GOP

The Tea Party is simply a GOP gimmick to rile up their base and blame for their unpopular far right agendas. The Republicans voted for this shutdown and they could end it today if they wanted to. After seeing their numbers tank in the polls, the GOP is trying to appear reasonable and place the blame for the shutdown on Tea Party extremeists.

I have to say I was mildly astonished.

Peter King (R-NY) was on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell today giving the Tea Party in general and Ted Cruz and Rand Paul in particular all manner of hell.
