Stamford woman killed in Capitol shooting

Source: New Haven Register

WASHINGTON >> A Stamford woman driving a black car with a young child in the car tried to ram through a White House barricade Thursday, then led police on a chase that ended in gunfire outside the Capitol, witnesses and officials said.

A law enforcement source identified the woman to the New Haven Register as Miriam Carey, a 34-year-old dental hygienist.

Police say they are searching the Woodside Green condominium complex in Stamford in relation to the shooting.

They believe mental illness is a character and or moral defect and not an ailment. Or a sin, saying that severe mental illness is demon possession.

They claim a woman who wants an abortion is unfit to make the decision, because to consider such proves she is incompetent, thus should have no say so.

Likely caused by liberalism which they call a disease. Confederate leaders held that equality as proposed by the Founding Fathers was delusional, a denial of natural law and God's Will, based on the inferiority of POC and all women, too.

They haven't changed their message much, either.

showed her well cared for and well dressed. He was holding her like he might have his own little kid or Grandkid.

So...I can't fault the Mother for her child or the DC Police for their handling of her (because the videos show the PO scooped her up and was holding her like he was his own.

The mother must have taken good care of her because her hair was done and her clothing was the same as any of us Mothers would dress our little toddlers. IOWD's the little kid didn't look neglected.

Who knows what the mother's story is. But, the videos don't show a neglected child. But, then those are just the videos but she wasn't crying. More like she was awakened from nap and didn't know what was going on.

But I am glad to hear she is ok. Sounds like her mom had mental health issues and snapped. If the baby looked well cared for, the mom obviously had lucid moments...she even had a job as a dental hygienist according to reports. She might have been bipolar. I knew someone bipolar at work who was a great mom....until she hit one of her manic phases. Then she would run out into middle of the intersection thinking she had a force field protecting her.

Does that mean Police just shoot first and think later?
Is this because it's the Capital thus shooting became necessary to protect the White House.
The whole area was teeming with Police.

There are more people with mental health problems in USA than walking/driving around with bombs.

I watch Cops TV Series where drivers run wild and not many of them get shot.

We were bombed rather often in UK by certain factions of a Political Party but Police didn't simply shoot first!
We've had a few high profile Middle Eastern Bombings.
Glasgow Airport was Bombed (almost) a first in Scottish recent history.

There is no time to set up tire strips the way there would be on an interstate with exits blocked and long distances involved.

In an urban setting you have to be careful about ricochets when shooting a gun at a low angle to try to hit tires. Pistols are low-powered for that kind of task anyway.

She'd already tried to crash through the WH gate, led police on a high speed chase through DC traffic (reaching speeds of 80mph), hit and injured a secret service agent, crashed into police cars, refused to get out of the car when ordered to do so by police, endangered officers who had her car surrounded, then sped off toward the Capitol. In the meantime, police had no idea if she was armed or had a bomb.

I'm sorry she had mental health issues and I'm sorry she was killed, but I don't think the police had a choice in this situation.

(the one who went up over her car) they felt they had a more serious situation on their hand. In the video you see her ramming into the police car behind her a couple times and maneuvering to get around/away from there. At that point they didn't fire on her and were holding back (for orders? or to see what she was going?), then when she got out of the video's view is where they said she hit the secret service and the firing started soon after. I think they were trying to be cautious until she broke their barricade and hit the guy.

I thought (from the released videos) that the Capitol Police and SS were restrained..and took time to try to figure out what they were dealing with...but, she was so erratic that they had to do something. And, they did.

... once she apparently crashed into a police car, in what appears to be an attempt to get away ... she was a danger to people other than law enforcement.

If she's willing to crash into law enforcement, she could do worse to the public.

Still lots of reasons to withhold judgement, but if that aspect holds true, the action of the police is more justified.

screaming all through that.

Went to get details, only found RWNJs calling it Obama's 'vile words' that made her do it.

Plus the anarchists saying it was on over reaction on the part of the Capitol police. If they'd seen this video, I bet they'd think differently.

More likely some sort of drug was involved, that is some driving there, no regard for the lives of others or her own but most importantly, her own child.

This is tragic and there it is on video. Thanks for clearing up my questions.
