Idaho health exchange launches with few hiccups

Source: Idaho Statesman

Open enrollment in Idaho’s marketplace started Tuesday with high traffic and just a few temporary glitches.

Alberto Gonzalez, site director of the Your Health Idaho support call center in Boise, said he had been curious about whether consumers would fill his 10 phone lines on the first day of enrollment.

That question was answered before the office opened.

“I had wondered if it was us that made all this buzz about the opening and no one is going to call,” Gonzalez said. “But before we turned the lights on at 8 a.m., we saw there were already people on the line, waiting.”

High Traffic in Idaho is a very different beast from High Traffic in New York or California.

Idaho may be small but it's filled with some of the most conservative folks you could ever meet. Tea Party? They are seen as a bunch of squishes in a state known for its militias, fear of black helicopters, and Neo-Nazi and Aryan Nations organizations. The fact that people are flocking to the health care exchange means the TeaPublicans could be in real trouble.

We raise wolves in Idaho and we're liberal too ... we're here because we love the silence of the forests, the wilderness areas, the deep lakes, and wildlife ... I'm left of Noam Chomsky and George Carlin ... BTW ...

There are no militias where I live .. No "Neo-Nazi and Aryan Nations organizations" ... one idiot started some phony website down by St. Maries as a scam, but nobody pays any attention to it ... no land exists and it's a joke ...

When I lived in California people wanted to know if I had lunch with Clint Eastwood ... your comment makes just about as much sense as me snacking with Clint ...

Nonsense ....

I've been in this part of the state for over fifty years. I have seen Nazis parading down main street in Coeur d Alene Idaho on Hitlers birthday for over a decade. If you don't know that there are neo-nazis here, why don't you do some research. Ask yourself why the Southern Poverty Law Center came here to take the Aryan Nations to court? Militias? Remember Ruby Ridge? Randy Weaver certainly wasn't to the left of Noam Chompsky and he wasn't acting alone. Just because much of the public face of hate has been driven underground by the hard work of Morris Dees and others doesn't mean the place has cleaned up its act. I'll bet you a thousand dollars you are ten times more likely to run into conspiracy nut (Chem Trails, Black Helicopters, Birthers, Deathers, etc.) or a racist than Democrat anywhere north of Lewiston.

You may wish this was nonsense, but welcome to the state of Idaho.

than anywhere else ... I've seen more hate and ignorance in The San Joaquin Valley in California then in Idaho ... the stooges in California outnumber Idaho's by 1000 to 1 ... do the math, dear ... flood that valley and they'd float like the TURDS they are until they completely plug up the Delta ... ... it's convenient to believe that ignorance has borders ... it doesn't ...

Of course there is ignorance and hate everywhere. But you are new to Idaho - so please don't try to tell me what you think you know about Idaho's population. Dude I was born here. I have lived here most my life. I have marched against hate here for decades. We have Skin Heads, Nazis, KKK, and militia members here. In a state with a small population the SPLC identifies 17 different hate groups active in the state. Most of them up north where I live. Do your homework. Idaho has beautiful scenery and it used to be a pretty damn liberal place to live - electing people like Cecil Andrus and Frank Church. But then all the Californians moved in and fucked the place up.

It's a shame you've here all this time and know so little about the Aryan Nations, the Lightfoot Militia, the Holicost Deniers, and all the other active groups in our state like:

Campaign for Radical Truth in History
Crew 38
Crusaders for Yahweh
Family Home Northwest
Free Edgar Steele
International Conspiratological Association
National Socialist American Labor Party
National Socialist Movement
Northwest Hammerskins
South Africa Project

But like you say... Whatever.
