Pakistan begins demolition of bin Laden's compound
ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan (AP) Pakistan on Saturday began demolishing the three-story compound where Osama bin Laden lived for years and was killed by U.S. commandos last May, eliminating a concrete reminder of the painful and embarrassing chapter in the country's history.
Pakistan was outraged by the covert American raid because it was not told about it beforehand. The country's powerful military faced rare domestic criticism because it was not able to stop U.S. troops from infiltrating the country by helicopter from Afghanistan under the cover of darkness. The compound was located next to Pakistan's equivalent of West Point, the elite U.S. military academy.

(27,640 posts)Pakistanis are embarrassed because US troops were able to sneak into their country to kill bin Laden. It is appalling to note a lack of accompanying regret for having allowed bin Laden to hide in their country for 6 years in this same location, right next to their equivalent of West Point. Their attitude is enlightening.
If we would have shared our secret with them, they surely would have warned bin Laden. Obama made the right call. The Pakistanis were hiding him all along. The idiot Bush never managed to figure that out.

I'm guessing the latter.
