Florida lawmaker resigns over sexy texts to prosecutor

A Florida lawmaker has resigned after admitting he sent suggestive and harassing texts to a married federal prosecutor.

Richard Steinberg's immediate resignation from the House on Friday comes two days after news reports that he used a hidden identity to send unsolicited messages to assistant U.S. Attorney Marlene Fernandez-Karavetsos.

The Miami Beach Democrat returned home from the Capitol after The Miami Herald reported the story on Wednesday. In a statement announcing the resignation, Steinberg apologized to everyone he's hurt and asked for privacy while he deals with personal affairs.

Steinberg is married and has a young daughter.

And instead of some whining about witch-hunts or something, the guy just resigned. He did something dishonorable, and quit his position. Would a Republican do that? For the most part, no. Yeah, there are scoundrels on both sides of the aisle. For some reason, only one side of the aisle keeps re-electing theirs.

The legislature needs to stay seperated from the judicial. I think the only ting that would make this story worse if it were a three way involving either the governor or his staff.

When Democrats get caught doing something wrong they resign.
When Republicans get caught doing something wrong they say "Screw you. I'm not leaving".

Some republicans resign, some don't. Some Democrats resign, some don't.

The only difference to me is that I'm more pissed at Democrats when they do stupid shit than I am with repubs. Because I don't want to lose Democratic seats.

The rest of it is no one's business, least of all the petty moralists who are going to surface from the slime and whine about how having a sexuality ruins it for the rest of the party.

I want a political party that supports sex and privacy and consent. No consent? It's a crime. It's ALWAYS a crime. Otherwise it's none of your business. It's NEVER your business.
