Santorum says Obama elected as 'a rock star'

http://newsok.com/santorum-says-he-was-an-outsider-inside-congress/article/feed/350660?custom_click=pod_headline_usnational-news

PHOENIX (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum belittled President Barack Obama on Tuesday as a rock star who won the White House four years ago, and dismissed fellow GOP rivals Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich as unable to provide solid conservative change for the nation.

"I'm someone who has a track record of standing up for the basic foundational pillars of our society, faith and family. I'm not a manager. I'm not a visionary," the former Pennsylvania senator said, using labels clearly meant to refer to Romney and Gingrich.

-snip-

As for Obama, he said, "Back in 2008, the American people in a time of crisis went for a rock star that they believed could solve their problems."

Santorum continued to mock Obama and Romney at an evening rally in Phoenix that drew 300 people. He said Obama has handled foreign policy so badly that he has alienated the United States' friends "to the point they don't trust us," and emboldened its enemies "so they don't respect or fear us."

Foundational pillars of our society? What is President Obama but a shining example of our foundational pillars of society? A bi racial child of an immigrant and a citizen raised with love and decency. He grew up and ended up at Harvard on merit. MERIT. And he rose to where he is today on merit.

and the liberal media doing the shift from decrying Obama in August as an empty suit "celebrity" to breathlessly hailing Palin as a "star."

Every other week there is another republican "star."

That little twit Paul Ryan one day, the despicable Christie the next.

Off the COUNTLESS hypocrisies that abound in media framing of Rs vs Ds, the one that seems to get my goat the most is this one.

Until the SB ad, Clint Eastwood was all that america should be, Swatzenagger was governor of Cali, the moron Charlton Heston is treated like a god when spewing the NRA BS, Faux has Jon Voight on like he is actually knows what he is talking about with politics, but ... 9. same argument as Jason Mattera's book Obama Zombies
Tue Feb 21, 2012, 11:52 PM
Feb 2012

basically that book claims that Obama campaign brainwashed hordes of voters under 30 through facebook and promotions on college campuses in 2008. Also youtube has viral videos like "Idiots who voted for Obama" (youtube ID e_JJLLfTR8I) and "Obama Is Going To Pay For My Gas And Mortgage!!!" (P36x8rTb3jI)...or others if you type in the keywords dumb Obama voters, that illustrate Mattera's theory that Obama relied on mindless low information followers. So be advised this isn't the first time people have accused Obama of using a celebrity appeal to be elected.

But now, through a recession that especially increased unemployment for the youngest Americans, those same 20-somethings Mattera/the conservatives complained about either will sit out 2012/don't feel that much excited (see NY Times "Students Lose Zeal for Aiding Obama Again" and the DU thread about that). And then there are many in that age group (I as a college student do know some) now embracing Ron Paul for his appeal to individual freedoms and pro civil liberties positions (and given the millenials' dislike for authority they can indeed relate to Paul). So right now Obama can't use a "rock star of 2008" appeal anymore he instead needs to call out Boehner/Cantor/the hyperpartisan electioneers in Congress including the senate minority leader McConnell who straight up admitted that his goal was to defeat Obama in 2012. (Did Democrats in Congress ever talk about defeating Bush as the #1 goal in 2004?)

Wed Feb 22, 2012, 02:26 PM
Feb 2012

without being mocked for it.
Well they all use teleprompters for long speeches. Obama, like Reagan and even Palin are/were good with them. Bill Clinton was great with them

Bush was not, neither was McCain so they used notes more. Biden isn't at his best with them

But when it comes to answering questions when you can't use teleprompters... that is where our Dems shine. That is what matters

Just recalled McCain saying a few days ago that in all the years of seeing and being in campaigns he has never seen one as negative and personal as Obama ran against him in 2008 so he worries about how bad he will get in 2012.

So I guess Obama must have called McCain at home and said mean things to him?
Or he took great umbrage at the least critical thing 'that one' said about him.
