Cop Who Pepper-Sprayed Students At Occupy Protest Wants Worker’s Compensation For ‘Psychiatric Injur

Source: Talking Points Memo

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — The former police officer who pepper-sprayed students during an Occupy protest at the University of California, Davis is appealing for worker’s compensation, claiming he suffered psychiatric injury from the 2011 confrontation.

John Pike has a settlement conference set for Aug. 13 in Sacramento, according to the state Department of Industrial Relations’ website.

Pike was fired in July 2012, eight months after a task force investigation found that his action was unwarranted.

Online videos of him and another officer casually dousing demonstrators with pepper spray went viral, sparking outrage at UC Davis leaders. The images became a rallying symbol for the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Either self-inflicted, or more likely, he had psychiatric problems to begin with----a pre-existing condition.

any talk of emotional damage or psychology or anything like that?
(it's 'cause they see themselves as always the victimizer, and thus nothing bad can happen to them like it does to wimps and weenies)
that then raises the question: are Pike's supporters further to the right than HE is?

but generally also view themselves as the victim. It's why they screech "REVERSE RACISM!" when someone darker than beige cuts them off in traffic and why we have to put up with the goddamned WAR ON CHRISTMAS!!! every single fucking year (Which is probably going to start next month).

It goes beyond being paranoid. It's a burning desire to see themselves as the good guys, and acknowledging that you are all that is bad in the world doesn't make you the good guy. So they have to pretend that what they're doing to everyone else is really everyone else doing it to them.

They just hate psychology because it's complicated and complicated things make them feel stupid. It's the same reason they hate books and math.

Really? A "rallying symbol"? I guess that is why the Occupy Movement is such a powerful political party/force today, one that brought about reform of brutal police tactics and the downfall of Wall Street and its criminal abuses.

Oh wait, that never happened. We were denigrated by the media and our own party as "dirty fucking hippies" and laughed at. The police state has expanded its power, reach and inhumanity and the people are pretty okay with that.

I am sorry. I wish I could be optimistic, but people really do not care. As long as they can watch Honey Boo Boo, play "Call of Duty" and post LOLCat pix to Facebook, they are content to give up every freedom they have. By the time they wake up and figure it out, they will be standing just outside the "delousing chamber".

He saw the protesters winning a lawsuit and was jealous. He probably also had some blow back because of what he did, and he feels victimized now.
