Goodwin Weber, on Behalf of DOJ Employees, Intends Class Action Against Sec. of Labor Perez

Last edited Tue Jul 16, 2013, 11:45 AM - Edit history (1)

Source: Wall Street Journal Online

WASHINGTON, July 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- According to a number of Department of Justice (DOJ) employees, the Civil Rights Division, at the direction of Thomas Perez and his senior staff, began a widespread campaign of disparate and discriminatory treatment earlier this year against Civil Rights Division employees who struggled with mobility, hearing, vision, emotional, physical or mental challenges and disabilities, as well as those under protected status based on race, gender, age, and/or parental status.

"Upon opposing this widespread and unlawful discrimination, DOJ employees have been subjected to an exceptionally hostile work environment and unlawful retaliation," said the DOJ employees' attorney, David P. Weber of Goodwin Weber PLLC. "We call on Congress to investigate these serious allegations, hold Mr. Perez's nomination pending investigation, and demand that the Attorney General take immediate steps to curtail the discrimination and retaliation."

-----------------------------------------------

Six of the DOJ employees have filed EEO complaints or alleged mistreatment, including physical assault. The DOJ employees include two senior trial attorneys, one African American female, one Hispanic male, a white disabled female sign language interpreter, a disabled former Voting Rights Section analyst, a disabled former paralegal specialist, and the DOJ's only disabled African American architect. Each of these employees is over age 40 and thus protected under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. The Hispanic trial attorney is a founder of the national Hispanic Bar Association and a founder of the local District of Columbia Hispanic Bar Association.

----------------------------------------------

Added Weber, "The compromised integrity of DOJ civil rights and EEOC compliance results not only in past and current harm to my clients who have received retaliation for coming forward, but deceived Congress and the American public by presenting under-reported, inaccurate information to Congress."

this case it illustrates exactly what he really thinks of federal employees as well as how he believes in rewarding a boss who discriminates. Beyond disgusting.

He's far too busy - on a day to day basis.

As the POTUS (unfortunately over both RWNJ and U.S. decent folks) - his advisers pick persons whom the GOP will not make a nuclear battle over. As a result - we (in essence) get the byproducts of making a deal with the debol....

It is up to U.S. to point out the error in choices

and we just did that very thing!

5. And the only way to "point it out" and get Obama's precious attention is to file a SUIT?

Puhleeeze. There is no way Obama isn't aware of this guy's record. But if for the sake of argument what you say is true, then it doesn't say much about Obama that he chooses such lousy "advisers," either.

7. You are making an incongruous argument. No one said "the only way"....

the "ways" are ANY ways (legal) that will bring such to the attention of the POTUS.

And you argue a "PUH...." by assuming facts not in evidence. Of course there are ways for President Obama "not" to be aware of an individuals record. When I was in charge of companies like eToys, with 1000 employees, getting 400 emails and 600 calls a day - You DO Priorities - in a short/sweet manner.

The advisers aren't lousy - this POTUS and his staff defeated Romney in a thump fashion (and didn't even utilize our full case of Racketeering Romney to do so). They handle the GWB legacy of leaving a disaster on the door step - in Superb fashion.

Instead of finding fault with out best guy - you should try to help make issues a priority and not let it go when powers flow. Such as (once he realized the B.S. wasn't working) - McConnell, upon seeing that Perez's confirmation might be halted - stopped playing games about that bad Obama and said Democrats were holding confirmations up.
(as the link above doth detail http://www.mainjustice.com/2013/07/12/mcconnell-concedes-perez-has-votes-to-win-confirmation/ )

We have enough of RWNJ trying to find fault with the POTUS. We don't need to help "them". What we need to do is support him when he's right and quickly point out when he's wrong. Holder has not helped me in my Racketeering Romney case (like he should be) - and I (properly) blame Holder - even though I was ecstatic that President Obama nominated a non-white for the post of U.S.A.G.

I hope that you are doing more than cheap shots from the cheap seats.

Such as calling Senator Feinstein and encouraging her to help stop this confirmation process until these allegations can be vetted properly...

Same thing about the banter of David Weber going on Cavuto's show. If O'Donnell, Ed Shultz and Rachael Maddow don't (or won't) give him air time - he is forced to go where he can.

Our task, when the problem is large - is to obtain "qualitative" attention; which in turn will garner quantitative attention.

We all are well aware that the media is manipulated by power lobbies & interests, yet we still go there to get our News and tell our News; because "if" we get some air time - the "quantitative" awareness may arrive.

is enough reason for your not wanting it to transpire.

Nothing is ever "as simple" as just right v left......

The paramount issue remains - Tom Perez is a disaster and must not be affirmed.

Sorry, gotta do a helluva lot better than that for someone with Perez's progressive credentials.

Not saying it's not possible, but allegations are not proof.

So let me ask you this - "if Faux News called for an investigation/ prosecution of GZ on a fed level"

would you automatically be against such - simply because the usual bad guys are the ones asking?

I'm just sayin.......the issue (message) is paramount - Not the messenger
