Hackers convention ask government to stay away over Snowden

Source: Yahoo News referencing Reuters

By Jim Finkle

BOSTON (Reuters) - The annual Def Con hacking convention has asked the U.S. federal government to stay away this year for the first time in its 21-year history, saying Edward Snowden's revelations have made some in the community uncomfortable about its presence.

"It would be best for everyone involved if the Feds call a 'time-out' and not attend Def Con this year," conference founder Jeff Moss said in an announcement posted Wednesday night on the convention's website.

Moss, who is an advisor on cyber security to the Department of Homeland Security, told Reuters it was "a tough call," but he believed the Def Con community needs time to make sense of recent revelations about U.S. surveillance programs.

- - It matters not what you think of Snowden - America is now made aware of another issue of bad faith by Big Brother. As for me - the jury is still out, for I'm doing much research on Snowden, his background and speaking with counterparts in Washington D.C. about many surreptitious issues. (Such as the B.S. that the NSA $1.6 billion facility in Utah is just a huge storage warehouse).

- - There's much evidence that Snowden was a RWNJ who worked for the CIA everywhere. Be that as it may, whether he grew a conscience, got drunk, pissed at his boss or realized his time for the "agencies" was at an end and decided to stab them back; he has done America's citizenry a solid. Stay tune, I'm going to bring you a full look soon - at all things Snowden.

Meanwhile, I'm absolutely floored that Homeland Security may be sitting the Hacker Convention out!

Moderator: Are there any US government people in the audience monitoring this event.

Man in front row: I am. And so is she.

Moderator: Could you please leave?

Man: Do you want the guy with the secret listening device to leave too?

Moderator: Could he. And could he take all of his devices with him.

Man with hat: Yeah sure

All they need to do is not say they are from a government agency when they register.
