US orders mandatory evacuation of embassy in Cairo

WASHINGTON: The United States on Wednesday ordered the mandatory evacuation of its embassy in Cairo, just hours after the Egyptian military ousted president Mohamed Morsi.

Asked if reports of the evacuation were true, a US official told AFP "yes." It comes only days after the state department allowed non-essential diplomatic staff to leave the country.

Looked for US source, but couldn't find one. I just heard this on the TV news.

In 2011, as soon as Mubarak was removed, you could not see any woman with bare head. All the ones who were talking to reporters were wearing the hijab. Today, many had bare heads. For now.

With luck, when the Army has stabilized the situation and are ready for elections, they will prevent the Muslim Brotherhood and any other fundamentalist or right wing party from having access to office.
