Source: KNX Newsradio 1070 Los Angeles
Governor Jerry Brown stopped by a Los Angeles elementary school Monday to sign a bill that provides more state money to low-income schools.
KNX 1070?s Megan Goldsby reports Brown officially signed off on legislation that changes the state funding formula for K-12 schools in a way he hopes will help boost achievement for disadvantaged students.
Brown was at Cahuenga Elementary to sign AB97, AB91 and AB86, known as the Local Control Funding Formula, as part of an effort to send $2.1 billion more to school districts that have high numbers of students from lower-income families, who have limited English proficiency or are foster children.
Brown also signed AB94, authored by Assembly Speaker John Perez, a bill aimed at cutting student fees at CSUs and UCs by 40 percent for students whose parents make less than $100,000 a year.

This bill enjoyed bipartisan support with some Republicans joining Democrats in the Assembly for instance: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/13-14/bill/asm/ab_0051-0100/ab_97_vote_20130614_0403PM_asm_floor.html
