AMMAN, Jordan U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and plans to return to Jerusalem for more talks with the Israelis as he continues his latest round of Mideast diplomacy. He hopes to get both sides back to the negotiating table.
Kerry is using Amman as a base for the talks. He drove to Jerusalem Thursday night for a dinner meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that lasted about four hours.

When the two sides decide that they're willing to stop eating ice cream and start exercising, then maybe the US pretending to have a constructive role here will seem less farcical. Of course, the US has extremely limited leverage, so not sure even then what it could accomplish.
