Trayvon family attorney turns up at Seminole NAACP meeting, calls Zimmerman 'every parent's worst...

Source: Orlando Sentinel

On the day that attorneys presented opening statements in the second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman, scores of residents gathered inside a church in Sanford's historic black community of Goldsboro on Monday to present their views on the case.

"We are not here to ask for a certain verdict," said Brendien Mitchell of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Florida youth and college chapter. "But a fair and just verdict is all that we ask."

The town hall meeting was organized by the Seminole County branch of the NAACP and was held at the Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The discussion was a way to update the Sanford community about the progress of the Zimmerman trial, NAACP's branch president Turner Clayton said.

And Zimmerman's Eastwood-wannabe stupidity is practically Exhibit A for that shit.

because although I knew about the case and read the headlines when it happened, I didn't really fully understand the story, so didn't form a strong opinion on it—as I was busy with other things in my life at the time.

I watched the trial today, and when I heard the 911 audio (that the DEFENSE was playing), it was evident to me that Zimmerman was stalking Trayvon (and with a gun, no less). Zimmerman's voice sounded high-pitched, and almost stuttering—like his adrenalin was pumping. And all Trayvon was doing was walking home. Trayvon got scared and started to run. Nothing after that should have happened: Zimmerman should have made his 911 phone call and let the police handle it. But he decided to be the judge, the jury and the executioner.

Zimmerman told the 911 operator what his plans were for Trayvon: "'Fucking punks. These assholes. They always get away."

That's how I felt after hearing Zimmerman's defense play clips of the 911 audio.

If I was a juror
...guilty.

...sorry, this wasn't a fitting comment to this particular article, but the case etched in my brain tonight and I wanted to speak out.

If the perp had been black would there be any doubt that he'd have been arrested on the spot?

I appreciate your watching it and reporting it here as well as your take on it. I can't stand to watch this stuff. I've seen enough.

I hope the jury is able to comprehend that what happened was due to Z's actions, not TM's. Z had a history of out of control behavior that he is still attempting to justify with various ruses. No excuse for this behavior.

Your addition to the OP is appropriate, IMO.

As much as this is about race and people feeling entitled, this is a crime that would not have drawn all this attention if the media, and Fox in particular, had not made race an issue.

Some people have really gone overboard defending Z from something that should have never happened.

he put on a LOT of weight.
When they showed the pix, Zimmerman frowned and looked down, kind of like, "Oh $hit."

Then they started showing his hands, and Zimmerman began talking to his lawyer for some reason. His hands made him look 100% white (it could have been the flash). I wonder if his defense is trying to make him look more Hispanic.

I'm worried about the KKK and their supporters in the NRA who are creaming their pants over a potential race war.

... I've served on jury duty before, and I can tell you, this is a no-brainer. And as for opening statements yesterday? Ha! This trial is going to be over before we know it, thank God. That law needs to be struck down too, all over this country. As a matter of fact, ALEC needs to be abolished, once and for all too!
