SÃO PAULOTwo of Brazil's largest media organizations have adopted the latest technology to record images of the protests around the country, using remotely operated aircraft to follow the demonstrations. Folha de São Paulo, one of the largest news organizations in Brazil, said it started using the technology Tuesday to cover a protest march in the city of São Paulo.
Folha, as its main newspaper is also known, posted images recorded by its drone in its website. The images are from Thursday's protest march in São Paulo, which was the second time the organization used a drone, according to Yago Mepring, who works at Folha TV, the group's online video section.
"We like the images and we expect to use drones again," he said. Mr. Mepring said Folha hired a contractor who owns and operates the equipment, and asked that further questions about the use of the drone to be sent to the Folha multimedia group email. The group didn't respond to other questions.
Globo, Brazil's biggest media group, which owns a television network, newspapers, magazines and radio stations, also posted videos recorded by a drone in Rio de Janeiro to its website. Globo couldn't be reached immediately to comment on the use of the drone.
