George Zimmerman’s Father Says The ‘True Racists’ Are African-American

Source: Think Progress

As the murder trial for George Zimmerman begins, his father has released an emotional and highly unusual e-book, publicly opining on all aspects of the case. The book by Robert Zimmerman Sr., called “Florida v. Zimmerman: Uncovering the Malicious Prosecution of my Son, George” was released today on Amazon for $3.99.

The most striking chapter is called “Who Are The True Racists,” an apparent effort to rebut claims that his son’s actions were racially motivated.

Previously, Zimmerman Sr. “believed generally racism was a thing of the past.” He says that, personally, he hadn’t encountered much racism, even though his wife is Hispanic. But after his son shot and killed Trayvon Martin, however, Zimmerman learned that racism is “flourishing at the insistence of some in the African American Community.”

No wonder his son held beliefs bigoted enough to go after Trayvon.

35. Wondering if Z, Sr. read the racist screeds on social media about TM, and still blames AAs?
Fri Jun 14, 2013, 06:51 PM
Jun 2013
Newton's Third Law of Motion (short version):

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The wounds of slavery which could have been healed in the First Reconstruction, account for natural reactions. If we assume that Daddy Z believes racism ended with the Emancipation Proclaimation, we are insulting his intelligence, or ours.

History proves that the inherent rights of AAs were not made whole. I've thought for many years of that, imagining what our nation would be if this had been addressed then. The equal footing that the GOP claims we all have, is false:

40 acres and a mule refers to the short-lived policy, during the last stages of the American Civil War during 1865, of providing arable land to black Freedmen (former slaves) who had become free as a result of the advance of the Union armies into the territory previously controlled by the Confederacy, particularly after Major General William Tecumseh Sherman's "March to the Sea." General Sherman's Special Field Orders, No. 15,[1] issued on January 16, 1865, provided for the land, while some of its beneficiaries also received mules from the Army, for use in plowing.[2] Such plots were colloquially known as "Blackacres", which may have a basis for their origin in contract law.[clarification needed][citation needed]

The Special Field Orders issued by Sherman were never intended to represent an official policy of the United States government with regards to all former slaves and were issued "throughout the campaign to assure the harmony of action in the area of operations."[3] Sherman's orders specifically allocated "the islands from Charleston, south, the abandoned rice fields along the rivers for thirty miles back from the sea, and the country bordering the St. Johns River, Florida." Brigadier General Rufus Saxton, an abolitionist from Massachusetts, was appointed by Sherman to oversee the settling of the freed slaves.[4] By June 1865, about 10,000[citation needed] freed slaves were settled on 400,000 acres (160,000 ha) in Georgia and South Carolina.

After the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, his successor, Andrew Johnson, revoked Sherman's Orders and returned the land to its previous white owners. Because of this, the phrase "40 acres and a mule" has come to represent the failure of Reconstruction policies in restoring to African Americans the fruits of their labor.[5]

In testimony before Congress in 1871, “forty acres and a mule” was attributed[by whom?] to be a promise made to African Americans by President Abraham Lincoln before he was killed.[6]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/40_acres_and_a_mule

Land ownership is real power. From it spring prosperity and freedom to live as you choose, and not necessarily answer to others. This is the liberty that some speak of, and in that they are not wrong. They have a basis from which to make demands others cannot, by lack of stability or loss of time working to live.

The fall of Reconstruction was enforced by the night riders of the KKK. Followed by poll taxes, questionnaires, Jim Crow laws and the murders of Medgar Evers and MLK, and countless others.

Black disenfranchisement, segregation and economic discrimination didn't stop 150 years ago, or 50 years ago or at any time with Z, Sr.'s lifetime. Nixon and Lee Atwater's Southern Strategy has been steady part of the GOP political scene. And it doesn't just hurt blacks, either. A lot of the squalling from the newly disenfranchised don't ring a lot of bells with me because they didn't say anything when it is was the blacks going through the fire.

Daddy Z may have been hiding out in an undisclosed location and didn't see a thing. But anyone knows there are reactions to things, and a level of black racism would not be unexpected. But I've seen little of it in my lifetime, in fact have found most blacks to be supportive of human beings no matter what color they sport in this time we get in life.

Daddy Z needs to rethink history and so do a lot of other people. Treat people as you would have them treat you. If Z was afraid of property loss or his life, he and those who support him should take heed of what this wise man said:

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.

~ Frederick Douglass

That's not endorsing racism or violence of any kind. And it applies to everyone, including white people, just so those who feel attacked will understand. It's a point of logic people abandoned to pretend they have nothing to do with the violence in this nation. So ignoring it will never work, there will never be peace as long as some suffer.

JMHO.

Whatever education they recieved were due to their own money and EARNING scholarships.

I doubt anyone paid their way for them.

That's code talk for affirmative action, quotas, or in other words, the charge that unqualified minorities are taking the place of more qualified white students in universities - or reverse racism.

It's the kind of ignorant talk Rush indulged, claiming tax payers footed the bill for Sandra Fluke, which was lie he continued to repeat as he made non-apologies about his sleazy attacks on her, but not that big lie.

Part of my family benefitted from slavery, they came here over four hundred years ago. They were not impoverished nor in chains.

I am aware of the real economics of this and the Civil War, am older than you and did not get all the education I could have had, nor the education or health care the Obamas are working on for all Americans.

As long as American society continues to talk about blacks like they are subhuman, I will speak for human beings. In contrast, your life experience with blacks must be very narrow:

I have never, in my 52 years, ever heard, read, or seen a black person think these facts through. All we get is 'it's not over, yet.'

Blame. Emotional reasoning. Try reason.

So black people can't think things through or reason now?

BTW, a number of your percentages and facts are wrong. I want peace which comes from logic and reasoning, not convenient excuses. I have put up with oppression in my own life, but not because of being black.

You make self-defensive assumptions in your reply and have not listened to the fact that my comment was about freeing everyone.

I don't want Z 'to fry' or eliminate him from the gene pool to prove superiority. I don't approve of his jumping the gun, knee jerk reckless reaction in going after TM.

You don't respect my logic, reasoning or the facts and ideals I presented and are attempting to 'school' me for what you are terming 'blame' and an 'emotional' problem. I don't need you to tell me to 'try reason' with someone who talks to me in the way that you have.

Also, I am not suffering from 'white guilt' if that's the next attack you want to deliver. I'm not all white, but nothing in my racial makeup affected my IQ, nor my ability in dealing with people and challenges.

We're done.

Fri Jun 14, 2013, 08:44 PM

Americans though in America's History. African Americans fought in the Revolutionary War and by the end of the Civil War, there was 180,000 African Americans in the Union Army. There were African American soldiers at the siege of Petersburg and the Fall of Richmond. There were African American units involved in the chase of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. And one of the most famous African American Units was the 54th Massachussetts.

I was raised in the South and went to school in the South. They kept that information out of History books in the South. African Americans were also in the United States Calvary, doing the conquest of the West. I'm pretty sure people have heard of the Buffalo soldiers by now. To say African Americans were not part of building this country into what it is today, is disinformation. African Americans have fought in all America's Wars.

The biggest race war right now in this country is between Central/South Americans and African Americans. What is going on with MS13 and the AA gangs in LA, Oakland, Stockton, etc right now is an all out war.

Father's antics speak for itself. I don't begin my judgement about hostile confrontation doing the actual fight. My premise is the hostile confrontation initiated when he falsely identified Martin as doing something against the law, when he first sighted him. That is where the initial confrontation occurred.

The victim was just walking home, and Zimmerman stalked him. Zimmerman also used hostile language in describing him. He showed more anger than being afraid of his victim. He has shown violence towards individuals before, which does not describe his character as someone that could easily become scared. He also tried to get into law enforcement, by definition doesn't describe someone that would be afraid of a dangerous occupation.

If Zimmerman sought to enter such a dangerous occupation, then wouldn't it lead to reason, Zimmerman would also learn techniques within this occupation, such as self defense and the use of a deadly fire arm. Is there not evidence, that he was actually taught this by some law enforcement friends? I think Zimmeran was the one wanting a confrontation, not the victim, who was minding his own business, within the law. I do not think the hostile confrontation started with the struggle, but at first sight.

Given the thousands of editorials, articles, op-eds and blog posts that have already been published regarding this case, the chances of finding 12 people who havent already formed some view of whether Zimmerman is guilty or not would be pretty low.

All of this works in Zimmerman's favour. The more his trial becomes a partisan political circus, the lesser are the chances of finding 12 people who can unanimously agree that he is guilty.

The well is poisoned and it will be the victim that will not be heard because the defendant's family continues to turn this into a media circus. I hope I am wrong.

The judge really needs to put a gag order on everyone involved including their immediate family now that jury selection has started.

Unlike Trayon's parents, I don't just want a trial, I want zimmerman to be found guilty and given LIFE in prison, he was completely wrong in everything he did. If not for this wannbe cop, Trayon's parents wou. ld be celebrating his HS graduation and beaming with pride as they sent him off to college this fall.

I've watched snippets for the jury selection, and I not at all impressed, one prospective juror said he thought protesters are annoying, there was another one who said he belived Zimmerman was defending himself.

Wrote for and was very good friends with Richard Pryor. Check out Negrodamus and Ask A Black Guy skits on Chappelle show reruns! He also published a book a few years ago Black Is The New White. Buy it - and laugh!

Zimmerman Sr. says that because of Holder’s decision to investigate whether Trayvon Martin’s death violated federal civil rights laws, the FBI did not have “adequate resources to investigate clearly identified potential terrorist [sic] in the Boston area.” Now, “tragically, we have suffered the consequences of Mr. Holder’s politically motivated decisions.

Isn't there a separate FBI unit for investigating terrorism? in addition, there are numerous intelligence agencies that can gather information about terrorism related issues. So, Attorney General Eric Holder investigating the Trayvon Martin shooting should not have prevented the intelligence community from preventing the Boston Marathon bombing.

When I first saw that Robert Zimmerman Sr. had written a book I wondered if it was a way to gain money for his son George's defense. Now that it seems that he (Robert Zimmerman) brought up the Boston Marathon bombing I wonder if this book was also meant for the Republicans who would not stop to ask questions.

77. Isn't it amazing, the 2nd amendment

Ron Paul and Rand Paul standees harp about the constitution 24/7/365
Yet, without Al Shaprton and Mr. Martin's parents, zimmy would be free today no charges filed, because, the 2nd amendment
allows that to happen with the very wrongly worded interpretation of a modern day court.

Mr. Martin lost his 1st amendment right and every other right.
And in Thomas Jefferson's eyes, Mr. Martin never had any rights to begin with (along with 82% of the democratic party).

Makes me wonder, ...no, best not to wonder.

At the start of all this there was the question of why would he target a black kid. It just didn't fit. Now we know because apples do not far from the tree.
