UN: More evidence needed on Syria chemical weapons

Source: Associated Press

BEIRUT (AP) -- A U.N. report on Syria said Tuesday there are "reasonable grounds" to believe that limited quantities of toxic chemicals have been used as weapons in at least four attacks in Syria's civil war, but said more evidence is needed to determine the precise chemical agents used or who used them.

The U.N. Commission of Inquiry said conclusive findings can be reached only after testing samples taken directly from victims or the site of the alleged attacks. It called on Damascus to allow a team of experts into the country.

The commission's report to the Human Rights Council on violations in Syria's conflict accused both sides of committing war crimes. In an apparent message to European countries considering arming Syrian rebels, the report warned that the transfer of arms would heighten the risk of violations, leading to more civilian deaths and injuries.

Look how stretched thin "WMD" is, in the days after Libya and the realization that the US population could be turned into insta-war zealots, or accessories to insta-war zealots, simply by using demonization and product placement know-how. Actually this was conclusively shown by Iraq. Nowadays, the US president doesn't even have to declare "war". Some weird half-assed, quarter-worked-out, authorization 12 yrs ago is enough to give Carte Blanche for absolute power spanning two administrations, of which nary a "pundit" has a clue what to do.

should demand Moon resign as head of the U.N. I think he is deliberately muddling information, because there is clear evidence of who is using chemical weapons, which is a crime by the opposition forces. Just like the beheadings are a crime. I'm going to pay attention to this Bradley Trial going on in the U.S. When the U.N. refers to this Syrian Regime led by Alawites and Hezbullah, ot should be considered part of muddying the information, if there is any iota of evidence, Sunnis or any other Nationality is part of this regime. I think the U.N. needs to be more transparent and cannot be trusted as a non bias entity. I think this Trial ought to be put on display World Wide. You don't need to wait for the end of any War to prosecute the opposition and bring them to Trial, unless a good number are who you depend on to win your little War. There needs to be a movement for Moon's resignation.

trust the U.N., especially especially the appointed South Korean head. My reason is the history of the U.N. in a past War between Iran and Iraq. The U.N. sent investigators into that War when the Iranians and Kurds accused Saddam of using chemical warfare in that conflict too. It ended up with intelligence about Iranian movements and both Saddam and Iran might have used chemicals.

They don't have any evidence the Syrian Government used chemicals, but they do have hard evidence Al Nusra used chemicals. They even have eye witnesses. They even have a journalist report with video from Russian media. The Turkish Prime Minister allegedly is with holding some of that evidence to conceal it. If the Syrian Armed Forces was using chemicals, they would have used it on a large scale. It is not logical for them to use chemical warfare when they have other ways to deal with the rebels. They out gun them in other ways.

Lets talk about the Syrian regime for a minute. The opposition focuses on the president Assad, but break down Assad's cabinet. The Prime Minister of the Syrian Regime is a Sunni Muslim. One of the Deputy Prime Ministers is another Sunni Muslim. The equivalence to the Secretary of Defense, another Deputy prime Minister reporting to Assad, is a Sunni Muslim. Assad's cabinet of ministers is diverse, including Alawites, Christians, Sunni Muslims, and Druzes. The only non represenative in his cabinet is a Kurd. So this is the Assad Regime. The exact details of this regime needs to be reported by the Press and U.N. when they refer to it by name instead of general terms. Let us know these people by name, their positions and their religion. And then I think everybody can be informed better.
