Teen pregnancy, abortion rates at record low (Largely attributable to increased contraceptive use)

Teen pregnancy, abortion rates at record low

CHICAGO — Birth and abortion rates among U.S. teens fell to record lows in 2008 as increased use of contraceptives sent the overall teen pregnancy rate to its lowest level since at least 1972, a study showed on Wednesday.

.......................

The Guttmacher researchers said the decline in teen birthrates was largely attributable to increased contraceptive use by teens of both genders.

"Teens are also using more effective forms of contraception," said Kathryn Kost, a demographer with the Guttmacher Institute who co-authored the analysis.

vote for a party that will take us back 40 yrs, back into the dark ages? It isn't going to happen, I cannot believe in the 21st century we are talking about contraceptives. No woman I know would willingly vote away her rights.

This is not a winning position to take, 53% of the population are women, and we VOTE. GOP out of campaign issues, they go straight to the old wedge issues..Oh shit, bring it on boys!

Good one in light of the hysteria over contraception.

I had dinner once with Terry Gilliam -

When the abortion rate goes down, that's bad for their campaign platforms. They need it as a core bullshit issue to rally the wingnuts they'll be screwing with their economic policies. If only there was a contraception for THAT!

Surely, this is because of the abstinence only education?

You know it'll be spun that way.
