GOP Star Witnesses Debunk Right-Wing Benghazi Conspiracy Theories

Source: Thinkprogress.org

The “whistleblowers” at today’s House Oversight Committee hearing on what really happened in Benghazi, Libya last September were supposed to break the dam that would lead to President Obama’s eventual downfall, in the eyes of conservatives. Instead, these witness actually served to debunk several theories that the right-wing has pushed on Benghazi, leaving the hearing a fizzle for the GOP:

$50,000,000 to investigate Clinton. (Congressional Hearing)

Bush would not allow a congressional hearing to occur for 9/11.
If it weren't for the Jersey Girls they would have never got a Presidential commission,
but that's what we got. But they could only spend $10,000,000, and they could interview
McIdiot, as long as McEvil was at his side. Only 1 person could take notes and a whole
boatload of other restrictions just to get them in a room.

How much is this costing us?

And when White Water didn't pan out, he shifted to Linda Tripp (the ugliest woman in America) for a totally unrelated story, and trapped Clinton into a deposition about nothing of any consequence which, nevertheless, gave the creeps (Starr and every man and woman in Congress on the GOP side of the aisle) just enough reason to impeach the president and shame themselves for all eternity as the shallow gaggle of hypocritical pustules they are.

They might lose the Benghazi war, but they won't stop. There's nothing so stupid and sickening they won't stoop to.

Did they blame Bush for the close to 60 people who died at diplomatic posts during his term? Were Powell and Condi dragged in front of Congress to explain their deaths?

This is all about embarrassing Obama and tarnishing Hillary's reputation in case she runs in 2016.

opposite take from the RWingers at my job. They are in fact celebrating, they seem to think that the testimony today proved in fact that there was "Dereliction of duty and Collusion between State and the White House to intentionally mislead the American people. They claim the dereliction is evident in that the FEST was not deployed from the outset of the attack, obviously no one knew how long the attack was going to last or who was going to be taken hostage etc, so to them delaying the FEST or any number of other options creates a whole host of questions about who make the decisions and why. Additionally, they claim that testimony now shows that every military option was systematically taken off the table from the outset countering initial claims by the Administration that it had done everything it possibly could have. The collusion of misinformation it seems comes from the "video" testimony versus what every report from Libya asserted that it was terrorists.....

at the very least they seem to think this will bring about a bipartisan call for a special prosecutor to investigate.

I love goading them so I hope to get more ammo frm thinkprogress or Huffpo to slam them... LOL...

of evidence how extremist the Republican Party has become. Benghazi did not cost them the Election. Benghazi did not win the Election for the President. It want win or lose the Election for Hillary Clinton if she decides to run. The President had no reason to cover up anything to win the Election. It is entirely the opposite. The extremist rightwing Republicans are looking to smear the Democratic candidate because they can't win on issues that matter. They would rather resort to shenanigans like rigging the Electoral process. If there are any sensible people on the other side, they need to reject the extremist Republican Party and leave it altogether. I advise anyone who loves this country to do so.

rhe GOP have any credibility with the coalition that voted for President Obama and it is getting worse for the GOP, not Hillary. They need to do something constructive to win those voters instead of tearing everything down. They are going to lose and big if they keep it up. And Obama shouldn't do anything to save their face either. I definately think we can take down Governor McCrory when his time comes up for re-election, the way he is angering a lot of people. Obama should let the Republicans keep digging their own graves deeper.

majority of Americans are not following this BS investigation hearings, and hell they already had the hearings and a report was made. This does not hurt Pres O creditability because majority of Americans already know that politicians are full of shit. Also, if they keep this shit up against Hillary Clinton it will backfire just like this is backfiring on the GOP now.

These motherfuckers whine, moan and groan on every little piece of whatever Dems do and especially Pres O and the American people are getting effing tire of it.

Instead of trying to get us out of the recession, the GOP is pulling us further in to it (sequester). GOPers are still effing with workers, did ya read the lastest bill concerning overtime? Next week for the 37th time GOPers will vote to repeal Obamacare, these GOPer politicians don't care about me or you. Fuck them, they need to be voted in 2014.

So the idea for the GOP was to simply push propaganda, talking points, innuendo, gossip only to shape the RW and vulnerable public opinion just for spite and political control. Scream loud and long to change the facts; that's their battle plan. More proof they only want their dogma promoted and to hoard wealth at any cost. It's all to screw the majority of their rights and privilege as Americans to have a good life and seek truth.

while nothing was tied to Bill or Hillary, other than Monica Lewinsky, it damaged Gore for his run in 2000 - especially with the media. If they can keep screaming about Benghazi for another 2 years, they think it will damage Hillary - especially with the media.

The de facto assumption is that the Obama adminstration has clearly done something wrong and that the GOP is working hard to ferret out the cover-up.

This is way beyond the bullshit "balance" that passes for centrism; it's a deliberate softballing of GOP talking points in an effort to help smear Obama and, by extension, Clinton.

The only voice of reason in the entire report was a too-brief snippet by Maryland's Rep. Elijah Cummings, who rightly identified this whole "controversy" as a political tactic.

Thank you, NPR, for helping once again to catapult the propaganda.
