China calls U.S. the "real hacking empire" after Pentagon report

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - China on Wednesday accused the United States of sowing discord between China and its neighbors after the Pentagon said Beijing is using espionage to fuel its military modernization, branding Washington the "real hacking empire".

The latest salvo came a day after China's foreign ministry dismissed as groundless a Pentagon report which accused China for the first time of trying to break into U.S. defense computer networks.

The Pentagon also cited progress in Beijing's effort to develop advanced-technology stealth aircraft and build an aircraft carrier fleet to project power further offshore.

The People's Liberation Army Daily called the report a "gross interference in China's internal affairs".

China and North korea are Allies, ever since the Korean War. You actually think they will take the side of the U.S. and South Korea if a War broke out? China got nuclear weapons because the U.S. has them. Now they have Stealth Bombers. While everybody is focusing on North Korea, China has been building up their Forces. They are a bigger threat to the U.S. and South Korea than anybody. You must have forgot China is a Communist country too with political dissidents just like North Korea and Iran. Any Country calling themselves a Supreme nation is racist just like Nazi Germany. Instead of sharing technology, they want to use it for an advantage. Just where did you think the U.S. got some secrets about weapons' technology after the fall of the Nazis? And by the way, they thought they were the superior race too. Look where that got them with their military adventurism. And any secrets of Nature belongs to a higher authority for man's use. What he does with it is his choice. He can either share it to make life better for all, or he can use it to bring about his quicker destruction. It is up to man.

The world should continue to protest the repatriation of North Koreans to China. It is only by putting pressure on China that it will be stop.

on whom you think the entire World is? The entire World consists of Billions and a great number of them live in China while the rest live in different Continents and nations. Even though one Country has taken the Title of the Leader of the Free World, it is only by Declaration. I don't think everybody voted.

Not that it's ever been very useful, that was back when it was still the War Department.

DARPA has done some truly excellent stuff though. If we converted the Pentagon into a national strategic research facility, with something like the same funding, that could go somewhere, that could do some good.

it's not really what I call hacking. They used telnet back then which is not secure. First I'd setup a multi-range ip scanner to find live ips, then I would setup a port sniffer on their ip and telnet port. When they would log in the sniffer would record their l/p and make a nice list for me. Us guys on IRC would setup eggdrops on their servers and use them to hold channels. What they call hacking now is not the same thing. No one uses telnet anymore. Everything is at least SSH for remote admin access.
