Barbara Bush On Jeb Running For President: 'We've Had Enough Bushes'
Source: NBC's "Today" show
WASHINGTON Amid the celebration surrounding the opening of son George W. Bush's presidential library, former first lady Barbara Bush is brushing aside talk of a Jeb Bush run for the White House.
Appearing in an interview Thursday on NBC's "Today" show, Mrs. Bush was asked how she felt about Jeb, the former governor of Florida, seeking the presidency in 2016.
Mrs. Bush replied, quote, "We've had enough Bushes."

She still has that goosey, sphincter-shaky voice that drives me freakin' crazy!!! Bet you hate seeing laura there ... AGAIN... 'eh, contradicta?
Shit - this is just BARF-WORTHY!!!!

(55,981 posts)They are not ready for Jeb to announce so she had to say he wasnt running. Otherwise all hell would break loose.
He is a self-serving, sociopathic Bush. I know that sentence has lots of redundancy.

I'm shocked, shocked that I agree with Barbara Bush on something.
Seems like W was definitely her favorite now that I think about it. Remember back in the day she said something like this (and I'm paraphrasing): "Jeb will just have to wait his turn to run."
Now she tells Jeb, "we've had enough Bushes."
It warms my heart. The writing is on the wall, Jeb. She's just not that into you as a son.
Makes one almost feel sorry for poor Jeb.
Not!
how will they walk this back?

(18,124 posts)He deceived the populace and stole the election. No surprise here, just anger and that empty feeling that one has when a certain hunch is confirmed. What hunch? That we lost what was left of our democracy (small d) in 2000.
Beacool
(30,247 posts)But if he had lost to Gore, he still would have made it farther than his family could have predicted. Jeb was supposed to be the one running for president, not his dopey brother.

(13,421 posts)My first reaction was to think Bar knows about something REALLY ugly that they'd all be much happier keeping quiet. If he runs it might come to light. To be honest, I've kind of wondered about it since they ran Dubya rather than Jeb in the first place...

(163 posts)Hillary is not the answer to our woes. The Clinton's serve the same masters as the Republicans and they are the ones responsible for NAFTA. They did the bidding for the very wealthy because we thought a Democrat would not sell us out.
Beacool
(30,247 posts)Second, NAFTA was an agreement that was put together during 41's term. Bill did sign it, but the agreement was already finalized by the time he became president. Besides, NAFTA was a trade agreement between Canada and Mexico. Most of the job losses are due to globalization and have gone to Asia and China.

That said, one thing I've always appreciated about 'ol Babs is that she was never a stepford wife. Her feud with Nancy Reagan was epic because neither one of them were ever very good about towing the line.
