Barge on Alabama's Mobile River explodes

(CNN) -- A fire broke out on Alabama's Mobile River on Wednesday night after a fuel barge exploded, the city's fire department said on Twitter.
The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, on its official Twitter feed, reported that it had "units on the scene on east side of Mobile River where a fuel barge has exploded and is on fire."
It was not immediately known whether anyone had been killed or injured.

It's a natural gas barge and it just exploded again making it the 3rd. Dont know if there are injuries.

(2,935 posts)Had just about finished wrapping up a damage survey aboard a vessel docked on the west side of the Mobile River at the Alabama State Docks, when we heard a loud boom. I was in the Captain's office at the time and we all rushed to his porthole window and we could see the flames. The ship was due to sail shortly after I departed, but the river was shut down to traffic. 4 more explosions occurred after that one, but was on my way home to Biloxi by then.
