18. Because judging someone on their looks is precisely what MLK Jr. was arguing against.

.... beauty is only skin deep sometimes, like this one. Beauty and ugliness comes in all colors, and all nationalities. You're right. Beauty is no indication of character.

and he said that is why Islamic terrorists like these guys. They look like us, hard to spot. This kid looks like any other college age hipster douche that you will find all over Boston, and all over the place at the Marathon.

it was on the radio this morning. I checked to see if they had an audio clip link up, but not yet. I will post it when they do put it up. It was a former special ops guy talking about the links between the Islamic terror groups and the Chechen rebels that are fighting to have their own Islamic state. You are familiar with the Chechen war, right?

Islamics fighting against the Soviet, now Russian government, for independence. I don't have a dog in the fight. Don't know who is in the right here, or if anyone is. I am simply pointing out that Chechnya, where the two Marathon bombers are from, are a "country" made up mostly of Islamic fundamentalists, with ties to other Islamic terror groups.

I do recognize the snark, but I can't quite understand why. Do you think that a theory that these two terrorists may be linked to an Islamic terror group is far fetched? Please explain.

not been clearly established. I am afraid of further violence against another group. As to being Islamic - that is probably realistic. Still what are they bombing this event for? I am looking for their line of thought. Maybe they just want to look big in the eyes of the other terrorists from that area? Who knows.

I am not trying to understand why, but the original point was that this kid looks very average in a city like Boston, and this special ops guy said that organizations like Al-Queda recruit these kids because they do not get noticed as much as someone with more Arabic physical features.

I am also a bit sensitive as I live in Boston, and this feels like an attack on me and my family because any one of us could have been there.

As to why? I do hope they catch someone involved so we can understand the motives.

I personally believe that this is a small group of college kids that are idealistic and operating on their own, not sanctioned or sponsored by another terror organization, for the purpose of looking big, as you said. I am willing to wait for more facts before I make that final judgement in my mind, though.

is a muslim majority republic of Russia and they want to create an Islamic state there even though Chechnya has always been a part of Russia throughout history.

It is something I don't understand about Islam. As soon as followers of Islam reach 51% of any area, they want to create an Islamic state out of it. They get funding for this separatist cause from the Saudis and terrorist training and munitions support from Pakistan.

This has played out all over the world -- Bosnia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Kashmir, Xin jiang and Mindanao to name a few.
