New York City mayor poll: Anthony Weiner in 2nd place
Source: Politico
Half of New York Citys registered Democrats say they wouldnt consider backing Anthony Weiner if he were to run for mayor, according to a poll released Tuesday, but the disgraced former congressman trails only frontrunner Christine Quinn in a crowded primary.
Only 46 percent of Democrats would consider voting for Weiner, and only four in 10 want him to run, according to the NBC New York/Marist poll. But those numbers are improved from October, when only 28 percent wanted him to run and 57 percent did not. Weiner has also flipped his likability numbers, with his favorable number climbing from 34 percent to 45 percent and his unfavorable score dropping from 43 percent to 41 percent.
Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after he was caught sending explicit photos to women on Twitter. The liberals public reemergence began in earnest earlier this month with a New York Times Magazine profile of Weiner and his wife, former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin. The story features an occasionally tearful Weiner apologizing for hurting his wife and wondering if voters could give him a second chance.
...snip...
Weiner would have a long way to go to close the gap with Quinn, the citys council speaker. She leads the poll with 26 percent of the vote. Weiner receives 15 percent, with other candidates trailing. A Democrat needs to garner 40 percent of the vote in the September to avoid a run-off. Former MTA administrator Joe Lhota is the GOP front-runner.

The significant point is that Quinn has dropped far below the 40% threshold to avoid a Primary runoff, meaning sh's have only six weeks to campaign if she eventually won.

(2,593 posts)rhetoric could get him back in the game. Of course, I live in Georgia so my feelings are probably irrelevant. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have a fiery and passionate progressive candidate in our state. Here, the Democratic candidates tend to be muted and bland to try to accommodate the conservative mindset.

Policy, schmolicy. Why pay any attention to that when we can be hypocrites about sexuality and make fun of a silly name?

(32,023 posts)"Preventing Wiener from becoming the mayor of New York was always the point of the hit carried out against him." What hit? If I lived in NYC I wouldn't vote for AW. If he had a radio show or political podcast I'd listen to that though, but based on his behavior AW has shown himself unfit for public office.

(12,008 posts)Fuck that puritanical bullshit. Did he try to cover his tracks about it? Yes. Why? LOOK AT THE FUCKING REACTION IT GOT to know why. Jesus Fucking Christ. What the hell is wrong with people? I don't even give a shit who the guy fucks, let alone flirts with. That has jack-all to do with how he does his job.

(32,023 posts)sending photos of his private parts! C'mon do you really want a nation of men who do that kind of shit especially if they are doing so while married?

(12,008 posts)What part of "fuck this puritanical bullshit" don't you get? I honestly just could not care less what the guy does in his private life, so long as it's legal and doesn't contradict his policy positions.

(12,008 posts)Shit, some guy in Virginia was trying to bring back anti-sodomy laws. Maybe you should send him a campaign donation. I cannot imagine giving two shits about what a politician does in their private life, so long as it's legal and/or doesn't conflict with how they carry out their job.

(12,008 posts)He flirts with attractive women who desire him? OMFG!!!! Clearly, once a man in public office is married, he should freeze his sperm and cut his cock off, because he has to be some kind of priestly saint and divorce himself from human desire.

Give me a fucking break. Do you have any evidence whatsoever that his personal life interfered with his job performance? If not, who fucking gives a shit?!
Even if he had made a mistake, how is it any of our fucking business?!
