EXCLUSIVE: New pics from moments before, blasts
Source: WHDH Channel 7 Boston
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Photos sent to 7News by a viewer show the scene just before and right after the bombs went off on Boylston Street.
7News has provided these pictures to the FBI as they continue their investigation. They are looking at the pictures to see if it's possible it could be the second bomb.
In the first picture you can see a bag next to a mailbox and up against a barricade along the marathon route. In the second, which we have blurred because it is very graphic, there is no sign of the bag. The viewer who took the pictures says there may be an hour or more between when the first and second pictures were taken.

Video and stills links at the link. They think it's a pic of the second bomb prior to explosion.
I didn't see any graphic pictures at the link.

(111,255 posts)The first was two backpacks leaning up against 671.
I lived a 15 minute walk from there. I hate seeing this done to a place I loved so much.

(49,001 posts)In the first there is a large crowd outside the restaurant. In the second, the crowd had moved out, and the restaurant had set up tables and chairs. Probably at least an hour between.

(2,252 posts)They know what time the explosions took place. Looking at the finish line photos for a series of people who match those in the first photo will give them the times that they finished. Done.

(7,318 posts)You can see several chair backs in the first photo and people in sitting positions. The darkening effect makes them harder to see.

(7,403 posts)Wasn't a red flag for authorities. Also that people standing there wouldn't have called it to the attention of the authorities.
Now they need to locate other pictures of that area closer to when the bomb went off and see if that bag is still there. Now that there is a picture of this bag they need to check security cameras in the area for someone carrying a bag of that size and color. I have always thought the bags had to be placed at least 3 hours before they exploded. That would have given the bomber time to get to Logan and be on his way out of the country -- not predicting that that is what happened however.
