Ex-Panama dictator Noriega suffers possible stroke

PANAMA CITY (AP) -- Panamanian police say former dictator Manuel Antonio Noriega has been transported from prison to a hospital, possibly because of a stroke.

A statement issued Sunday from the National Police says Noriega had high blood pressure and apparently a brain hemorrhage. He was taken from the El Renacer prison to Hospital Santo Tomas in the nation's capital.

In December, Panamanian authorities said 77-year-old Noriega had limited mobility due to a stroke.

I just don't have much sympathy or care about people who knowingly associate with assholes.

Probably means you're an asshole too.

By the late 1980s, the US turned against Noriega. The 1988 Senate subcommittee on terrorism, narcotics and international operations concluded that "the saga of Panama's General Manuel Antonio Noriega represents one of the most serious foreign policy failures for the United States. Throughout the 1970s and the 1980s, Noriega was able to manipulate US policy towards his country, while skilfully accumulating near-absolute power in Panama.

"It is clear that each US government agency which had a relationship with Noriega turned a blind eye to his corruption and drug dealing, even as he was emerging as a key player on behalf of the Medellín Cartel [a member of which was the notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar]."

too thick to be GHWB, he is too short in the leg as well, and his facial features are hairline are not right. GHWB's hairline was receding already in the late fifties, and he always had a bit of a pencil neck and stork-like legs. The forehead height is completely wrong as well, as is the set of the eyes. Also, that Mystery Dallas guy isn't the tallest guy in that mix by a long shot, and GHWB was quite tall--in the six foot two inch range. He was taller than Reagan, even though he obsequiously "hunched" a bit when photos of the two were taken together.

GHWB:

Not GHWB:

This is a tiresome and oft-repeated conspiracy theory. Even if GHWB was involved in anything that happened in Dallas, he would not have been so blazingly stupid as to allow himself to be photographed at the biggest crime scene of the 20th Century. If one is to assume he was that nefarious, some sort of string-pulling evil genius, one should also assume that he wasn't a moron, and had sufficient brains to direct minions to do his dirty work.
