Bobby Jindal Pulls Tax Plan After Outcry

Source: TPM

Lousiana Governor Bobby Jindal (R) is pulling a plan to replace the income and corporate tax with a new sales tax amid an outcry from groups ranging from clergy to business lobbyists.

"I realize that some of you think I haven't been listening. But you'll be surprised to learn I have been," Jindal will say in an address to the state legislature, according to prepared remarks released to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "And here is what I've heard from you and from the people of Louisiana -- yes, we do want to get rid of the income tax, but governor you're moving too fast and we aren't sure that your plan is the best way to do it."

Jindal's about-face is a difficult blow given that he made the tax proposal a centerpiece of his second term agenda.

He always acts like he's out of his depth, which means good news for us.

And Jindal is down to something like a 38% approval rate in Louisiana.

for shutting down the idea of getting rid of income tax. It built the middle class. Hopefullt ALEC will be scared off from transplanting the idea to other places.

If you are a democrat, you know republicans will do whatever it takes to get re-elected and serve their rich masters.
All this talk about religion, liberty, gun rights are only the smokescreen. So now I understand that those ignorant republicans that own guns and believed the republican lies and committing suicide all out of proportion to their numbers in the population.
Did you ever think that is the same reason our servicemen and women commit suicides? They have sacrificed so much for the lies and when they find out how big the lies really were they become very very depressed. So many of our servicemen and women are killing themselves today. If we do not want that to happen , we have to quit deluding them with our false wars of liberation fought for oil companies.
As a Vietnam vet, I never bought the lie, that we had to kill them to save them. I stood up for their women and children against the Vietnameese officials themselves. I never hated nor blamed these victims. And I treated them with respect. Today our soldiers must in many cases rely upon hate and blame to do their jobs. I know that is not their intent but war will make you more savage, it will make you rationalize brutal behavior as entirely necessary for survival when in fact that brutal behavior when aimed at the defenseless only creates generations who hate us.
I understand my words may be hurtful to many and I regret this but it is what I believe needs to be said and dealt with.
