George P. Bush Keeps it Simple in Political Debut
Source: AP
George Prescott Bush is off to a safe but also unpolished start as a political candidate in Texas.
Bush on Friday stumbled over his words and sometimes appeared nervous in his first public speech since announcing his run for Texas Land Commissioner.
A luncheon of about 200 people at a policy conference near Austin nonetheless treated Bush to enthusiastic applause.
The 36-year-old nephew of former President George W. Bush didn't take big risks in his political debut. He urged Texas lawmakers to continue prioritizing education and pledged to take a special interest in the welfare of veterans.

(5,954 posts)He's probably waiting for the Chamber of Commerce to set him up with a seven-figure a year 'consulting' job on their board of governors to keep him out of government. That's basically what they were trying to do when they gave Neil Bush that job running the S&L and George W. that job on the board of SPECTRUM 7. They even gave him a BASEBALL team to play with...but it was all for naught. He just couldn't keep his hands out of the cookie jar of politics.

If you are going to run for public office, you should at least be able to speak!

That says it all about the Bushes, I guess...

(75,480 posts)It's believable considering the illiteracy apparent of the whole family every time one of them opens their mouth. Remember when Dubya demanded that anything crossing his desk, even complicated policy, had to be on one page or a Cliff Notes version? He didn't want to read anything in depth.

(66,380 posts)Yeah, I do remember that. And I wasn't a bit surprised when I did. W acted like a guy who wanted the privilege and prestige of the Presidency, but didn't want to do any of the heavy lifting.
Kind of like the stories you hear about football jocks goofing off in class because the coach has bullied the teachers into passing all the members of the sports teams, regardless of academic performance.
I don't know if that's a myth or not; when I was in high school, most of the jocks were in the Honor Society, and not numbskulls at all.

Otherwise they were treated like royalty, with expensive hotel suites, credit cards and all other kinds of perks the ordinary students didn't get.

How long must Texas endure this plague of Bushes. And while you're at it, Perry, Cornyn, and Cruz are as boils on our skins. Please remove them we pray.
And last but not least, spare us from Rove. He has never been elected to any office but he saps our votes as a leech.
I humbly pray,

And before you know it, he'll be in a position to lie us into another war and ruin many peoples' lives.
