Scott Prouty, '47 Percent' Videographer, Likely To Take Job With United Steelworkers

Source: Huffington Post

Dave Jamieson

WASHINGTON -- Now that he's gone public, Scott Prouty, the man behind the infamous "47 percent" video of Mitt Romney's remarks at a Florida fundraiser, has been in talks to work for the United Steelworkers union in a role that's yet to be determined, the head of the union told HuffPost on Thursday.

Steelworkers President Leo Gerard said the union met Prouty through Charles Kernaghan, a labor rights activist who heads the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, headquartered in Pittsburgh. Prouty had gotten in touch with Kernaghan, who'd been researching Bain Capital and outsourcing as Prouty anonymously disseminated his video last year. Gerard said that union officials met with Prouty at the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., in January, before the videographer was willing to go public.

Gerard explained his respect for Prouty, paraphrasing a quote from President Barack Obama that one voice can change a room, that room a city, that city a state, and so on. "I think Scott Prouty is one voice that changed the country," Gerard said.

"He's going to come work for us," Gerard went on. "We're going to sit down and talk. He has lots of skills, and we'll try to put him in a place where he can use the skills he's got."

He did the right thing and I'm glad he was offer a job. I get sick and tired of crazy, ignorant people getting good job offers because they say what the right wingers want to hear. . .Fake news comes to mind.

Now he will be working for a union. It's unusual that a whistleblower doesn't get destroyed for being a whistleblower. I'm so glad he is an exception. And I'm as proud of him now as I was when he was the anonymous photographer.

I love the fact he went public with the video but the video played no role in the outcome of the election. President Obama never once trailed in the polls the entire election cycle. Actually, the lowest point in the polling came after the 47% video. The video was a wonderful as it allowed the American people to see exactly who Romney is the video did not decide the outcome of the election.

Not sure why some seem to be trying to push this? Not saying you are I am sure you are simply repeating what you have heard. However, some Liberal Media sources seem to have an agenda by trying to make it sound like this video saved the election when it clearly did not.

Again, I loved the video & it was a very brave thing to do to go public with it but the video was not a "game changer" like some are trying to fool others into believing.

He was terrifically well informed about so many issues, which leads me to believe he must have been reading liberal forums/blogs.

I'm glad he's looking at a good employment prospect, but I SURE hope he continues doing what he's doing........
we can use more "citizen journalists."

The savvy, unobtrusive documentors...........not the crazies, like O'Keefe.
