Afghanistan: Five Coalition Soldiers Killed in Helicopter Crash

Five coalition soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan on Monday, the coalition announced on Tuesday. The nationality of the victims was not immediately released, in line with official policy to notify next of kin first. A statement from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said the crash was under investigation, but “there was no enemy activity in the area at the time.” Javed Faisal, a spokesman for the governor of Kandahar Province, said the crash occurred about 11 p.m. in Daman district.
