U.S. envoy walks out of nuclear meeting over Iran's Israel remark

Source: Reuters

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations nuclear watchdog walked out of an agency meeting on Wednesday in protest when Iran's representative accused Washington's ally Israel of "genocide", diplomats said.

Officials from Canada and Australia also left the closed-door meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) 35-nation governing board when Iran's Ali Asghar Soltanieh made his statement during a debate on Syria, they said.

U.S. envoy Joseph Macmanus's walkout highlighted tensions with Tehran a few hours after he accused the Islamic Republic of a "commitment to deception, defiance, and delay" in addressing IAEA concerns about possible nuclear weapons-related research.

The European Union also used the meeting to call on Iran to stop obstructing an IAEA investigation and give the agency access to sites and documents, regardless of broader talks between Iran and world powers that resumed last week.

It's not like the Israeli government is made up of Holocaust Survivors.

Whether or not the conflict between Palestine and Israel is genocide is debatable.

When a population keeps increasing, there is no genocide unless you don't trust math.

suggesting to go to War with Iran? Is it because the ambassador and others got mad the Iranian representative accused Israel of genocide or because they demanded Iran open up the nuclear facilities because they accused them of deception? My personal opinion, I see nothing that would have caused me to walk out. If the U.S. and her allies have this evidence then present it and stop the childish temper tantrums. That is the way I see it. I could care less what they accuse of the Israeli Government. And while you are at it, the IAEA should demand the Israeli Government open up its nuclear facilities if they are all that concerned about nuclear weapons in the Middle East.
