Biden on Iran: 'Obama is not bluffing'
Source: CNN
Vice President Joe Biden re-emphasized on Monday the United States' commitment to Israel and forcefully admonished any attempts by Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
"Big nations can't bluff. And presidents of the United States cannot and do not bluff and President Barack Obama is not bluffing," Biden said at a gathering in Washington for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Also on Monday, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog, announced that Iran was still not cooperating, rendering it difficult for the IAEA to provide "credible assurance" that the country does not possess undeclared nuclear material.

"We have a shared strategic commitment. Let me make clear what that commitment is. It is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Period. Period. End of discussion. Period. Prevent not contain. Prevent," he said.

(31,182 posts)When President Obama okayed a Department of Energy loan guarantee for Areva, a French company, and, at the same time, denied the loan guarantee for USEC, Inc.s American Centrifuge Project at Piketon, it led to dialogue concerning the spending of U.S. dollars with a foreign country over a U.S. Company.
Now, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown is saying the United States shouldnt be giving taxpayer dollars to a company that is dealing with Iran. He says he is introducing legislation that will eliminate those deals.
Iran is our biggest problem, Brown told the Portsmouth Daily Times. If you had to say one problem in the Middle East Palestine, Hamas, Hezbollah youd say Iran. So we shouldnt be doing business with somebody who is doing business the way they (Areva) are with Iran.

Why does Israel get to have atomic weapons, but Iran doesn't?
If anybody could make a case for needing atomic weapons, it would be Iran: A nuclear-armed mortal foe in Israel, a nuclear-armed unstable Pakistan on its border, surrounded by countries the US has invaded (Iraq, Afghanistan) and filled with American military bases.
Or we could have a nuclear-free world. Gee, I wonder who has the most nuclear weapons. The hypocrisy, it stinks.
