9-year-old rapper's adult-themed videos prompt state probe

A 9-year-old rapper's adult-themed music videos are finding some new viewers -- Massachusetts child welfare authorities.
The child, Luie Rivera Jr., whose stage name is "Lil Poopy," is seen in videos posted online, including on YouTube, smacking a woman's backside, flashing wads of cash, riding in a Ferrari and rapping about how "coke is not a bad word."
A separate video shows the young performer in a nightclub with a dancing woman in a sexually suggestive position, with people in the crowd throwing cash.
The Brockton, Massachusetts, Police Department contacted the state's Department of Children and Families after receiving a call from a "concerned citizen" who saw the boy in videos featuring sexual themes and drug references. The state agency is brought in when there is suspicion of physical, mental, or emotional abuse of a child, according to Brockton police Lt. Robert Sergio.

Gee, and you thought kids made these kinds of rap songs like:
"Jump" by Kris Kross
"Whip My Hair" by Willow Smith (daughter of Will Smith)
"My Baby" by Lil' Romeo (son of gangsta rapper Master P and would later play basketball at USC)
As for Rivera's video, you can choose for yourself if you want to subject yourself to audio torture. And you thought Seth MacFarlane was raunchy enough last night at the oscars! And no you can't compare this rapping kid to Brooke Shields playing a child prostitute in Pretty Baby or a 12-year-old Dakota Fanning in a rape scene in Hounddog. But maybe to Angus T. Jones on the set in front of all of Charlie Sheen's raunchy jokes on Two and a Half Men. And should CPS start seizing all the 12- and 13-year-old kids who listen to rappers like Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, rappers who obviously have influence on Rivera?

(6,199 posts)but it was a rough ride. He's not very good.
(Willow Smith actually is pretty good. That wouldn't be a bad song if the hook wasn't so nails-on-chalkboard grating)

(5,764 posts)I liked the song and the video. I thoroughly enjoy watching Hip Hop dance.

(6,199 posts)I liked the rest of the song, and the dancing, just not that bit. It grates.
She's got a great voice tho. Sounds a lot like Rihanna.

(22,143 posts)Of course that doesn't mean they're good because they aren't.
Obviously someone is writing for this kid but he has some idea of what flow is and a cool look. The whole thing seems like a parody to me, hits all the cliches.
For the cops or the state to be bothering with this is ludicrous.

(129,096 posts)was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this story. Of course 20 years later and they are in their mid-30s.
Gosh - this came out 20 years ago when they started calling rap "Hip Hop" -
Don't forget Jody Foster's Academy Award for "Taxi Driver" playing a child prostitute!
