Kindergarten Teacher, School Nurse Held in Murder-for-Hire Plot
Source: ABC News and Yahoo
A Virginia elementary school teacher and a school nurse are facing charges in what police are calling a murder-for-hire plot.
Angela Nolen, a 47-year-old kindergarten teacher, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly plotting to hire a hit man to kill her ex-husband for $8,000. According to police, Nolen's friend 37-year-old Cathy Bennett, a school nurse, worked with Nolen to find a hit man.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Nolen's plan unraveled when she gave a police officer, working under cover as a hit man, an up-front fee of $4,000 to kill her ex-husband, 63-year-old Paul Strickler.
Strickler, who is the father of Nolen's 7-year-old daughter, told the Roanoke Times he had been working on a deal to sell his house to Nolen.

(4,441 posts)strange how seemingly normal people will resort to violence and criminal conspiracy because they're greedy. I wonder about Bennett. Was she involved just to help out her friend, or was she in it for the money? Bizarre story.

(5,861 posts)There are a lot of people who will kill someone for 8,000 dollars sadly. For less even. Probably at least a few in every town. Check the news; these types of murders are not uncommon.

(976 posts)ladies, have led a sheltered life from what I am reading between the lines. That's my opinion. I have known members of some very notorious and dubious organizations, that for much less money, would/could do something like that. These wonderfully stupid people were probably afraid of "gangsters of color" and looked for a "more civilized" approach. Of course all conjecture and hyperbole is solely mine.

You don't have to prove you weren't there, but the prosecution does have to prove you were there.
