(Oakland, CA) Occupy arrestees being arraigned today

Alameda County prosecutors plan to arraign several Occupy Oakland protesters today on charges related to Saturday's skirmishes with police, but will need more time to make decisions on hundreds of others who were arrested, officials said.

Assistant District Attorney Paul Hora said his office would make decisions today on protesters accused of either assaulting or interfering with police during a rally in which they sought to take over the vacant Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center.

He said he expected both misdemeanors and felonies to be filed.

More than 400 people were arrested, and most have already been cited and released. Protesters who were jailed and remained in custody today, but who are not charged by the end of the day, must be released, Hora said.
