Rapper Kenny Clutch killed in Las Vegas shooting
Source: KNTV Las Vegas, ABC local affiliate
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Details continue to emerge following the fatal shooting and car explosion on the Las Vegas Strip Thursday morning.
A cab burst into flames, killing both people inside. It's the dramatic end to a violent shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.
Las Vegas police said the occupants of a black Range Rover opened fire on two people in a Maserati, killing the driver and causing the car to speed through a red light at Flamingo and collided with the cab.
The attorney of Kenneth Cherry Jr., also known as Kenny Clutch the rapper, confirmed to Action News, Clutch was the driver of the Maserati and was killed in the shooting. In one of his music videos, Clutch is seen in what's believed to be the Maserati from the crime scene.

Robert Hare is said to be the Worlds leading expert on psychopathology, and in his book "Without Conscience" he says "sociopath (not to be confused with psychopath) is a product of subculture."
The Ghetto is one of many types of subcultures, but it is the type of subculture that - metaphorically speaking - traps young people in a corner where their conscience is beaten out of them with a stick. In other words, the Ghetto is a violent breading ground for sociopaths, and what you see far to often, is the logic of a, otherwise sane mind, fighting desperately to survive any way it can.

What I am objecting to in these videos such as the one up-thread is that the rappers spread the message that there is no way out and that violence is o.k. Then, rappers such as the one killed in Vegas, who have obviously done pretty well, turn around and instead of offering messages of hope they offer messages of hype and the glorification of a shit attitude which perpetuates more shit attitude. It's like child abuse in that it is an endless cycle until one of the abused finally takes a stand and decides that life has choices (even children in some of the most dire situations have ended up doing o.k. later in life and they stop perpetuating abuse on their young).

and the ONLY kind of punishment is the death penalty.
Even the Mafia and motorcycle gangs dispense justice with a sense of perspective: while most infractions can indeed get you murdered, there are situations in which simply breaking your kneecaps or firebombing your place of business is punishment enough. Hip-hoppers, however, will "go to the mattresses" over something as trivial as eating someone else's candy -- anything less makes you look "weak."
Most recently, rapper and record label owner Rick Ross was fired upon because he displayed Gangster Disciple insignia on one of his albums, and they want to be compensated. Apparently, YouGoogleTube is too busy cracking down on people who post their favorite songs to notice that this kind of stuff is being uploaded: I guess they're cool with your making lethal terroristic threats as long as your background music is original.

January 28, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- There is no shortage of suspects in Monday's assassination attempt on well-known rap star Rick Ross. And they all lead back to Chicago.
Ross survived a shooting ambush in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Monday morning.
The worst kept secret in the rap world has been a dispute between Ross and the Chicago-based Gangster Disciples. Ross was apparently targeted by gang leaders after he used some of their signs, symbols and logos without paying them the required fees.
Over the past few months, gang members have posted video death threats against the rapper on YouTube. Monday, a hit squad opened fire on Ross in South Florida.
There was a spray of gunfire just before daybreak on the silver Rolls Royce being driven by rapper Rick Ross, stage name for William L. Roberts.

...(Clutch's) father, Kenneth Cherry Sr., held a news conference Saturday and defended his son, calling him a victim and a good kid who only played a tough guy in YouTube videos...(H)is attorney...told a reporter Cherry was no gang member..."He was a loyal, dependable friend, and we at the law firm will miss him."
Cherry had a few minor brushes with local law enforcement...Despite having no visible means of income, he drove a Maserati and stayed in a $2,900-a-month condominium...According to court documents, Cherry was a stone pimp who beat his women and spent the money they earned turning tricks in Strip casinos...Before...the mother of one of his children...ran away...(he) pimped her out and beat her often...(W)orking six nights a week...her evening quota was $1,500...
(S)ave your tears for cabdriver Boldon and passenger Sutton-Wasmund, whose devastated family members will deal with their loss the rest of their lives. Then say a prayer for all the women of the night who, for reasons most of us can't fully comprehend, find themselves under the pimp's spell.
Oh. $1500 a night, times six nights a week, times only ONE of the fillies in his stable -- THAT'S where he got the Maserati money.

Police are looking for 26-year-old Ammar Harris, who they believed fired the shots in the incident early Thursday. Harris' arrest history in Las Vegas, which is extensive and violent, according to police, includes charges of kidnapping and pandering...
Kidnapping? Pandering? We now know that Clutch was a pimp who kept his prostitutes in different apartments -- was Harris one of his "stable hands"? Maybe this was a John Gotti-style "hostile takeover."
This May, Montana is releasing his first studio album on Maybach Records, which is owned by -- wait for it!!! -- Rick Ross! For a local up-and-comer, being seen with Montana at the show (never mind being one of opening acts) would have been a big step forward in terms of getting national attention. Maybe the argument broke out because the club knew the real deal about him and refused to let him perform. (link)

Asmayit "May" Hagos, 22, the girlfriend who had a baby with the rapper two months ago, said Cherry Jr. "never exchanged a word" with Harris. At least according to his close friends, he didn't, she said. She...called a press conference Tuesday and denied rumors that Cherry Jr. was a pimp and that she was his prostitute. "He never controlled me," she said. She met Cherry Jr. three years ago at a Las Vegas club where he was performing...Hagos has an arrest record that includes solicitation for prostitution, grand larceny trick rolling, and trespassing...(Her) most recent arrest on prostitution charges came a year ago in Houston.
Where did he get the money to afford the Maserati and the expensive pair of apartments he lived in at the Meridian just off the Strip and in Newport Lofts in downtown Las Vegas? His father, Kenneth Cherry Sr...said the family is "very wealthy" on his wife's side from real estate investments. He said his son's great-grandmother lives on Telegraph Hill, a posh area of San Francisco. (S)he doesn't know what's going on, he said. "She's saying, 'Where's my little Kenny?'"...

Real estate investments -- a perfect way to launder pimp money. If great-grandma doesn't know what's going on, she probably doesn't know if she was financing him. And if he could afford two high-rent homes in Las Vegas, he could certainly have afforded one in Los Angeles, a far more logical place from which to have operated his musical hip-hop career.

Earlier this morning, someone posting from an Instagram account payyeni, wrote: "thank you everyone who took the time out of their day to text/call/ig/facebook me. i'm truly sorry for everyone's loss ..."
Las Vegas police on Tuesday identified Yenesis Alfonzo, also known as Tineesha Lashun Howard, as a passenger in Ammar Harris' Range Rover...(she is) no longer sought as a person of interest and no longer considered a missing person...(P)olice previously found and interviewed two other women who were with Howard in Harris' black Range Rover SUV during the shooting...
"There is no other person wanted in this case other than Harris," Jones said. "No one else faces charges."
Sounds to me like an arrest is imminent. If none of Harris' passengers were even threatened with charges of being an accessory, he either let them out and kept going, or they talked. Unless the two of them are already in Mexico, where they should have no trouble earning a living...

It had been a rough week in Miami for Harris (in early December 2012). He was arrested...by the Miami Beach Police Department...for driving without a license...He was released from jail the next morning, only to be shot later that day...Harris wrote...from his hospital room..." (He) shot me, but aint kill me...biggest mistake..." The circumstances of the shooting are unclear - Miami-Dade police say they have no record of the incident.
His final post came two days before last Thursday morning's shooting...
A motive is beginning to take shape: If Harris and Clutch were rival pimps, maybe their argument in front of a nightclub preceding the shooting had to do with whose girls would be "working" the concert going on inside.
P.S. I thought hospitals were required by law to report ALL gunshot wounds to the police.

From Maple Valley, Wash., Sue VanRuff, a good friend of Sutton-Wasmund, said the entire community is "heartbroken," but that at least now there might be some justice. "I'm glad the police caught up with him," said VanRuff, executive director of the Greater Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce, where Sutton-Wasmund worked as an independent contractor. "And we look forward to justice." Sutton-Wasmund was in Las Vegas attending a trade show...
http://www.lvrj.com/news/strip-shooting-suspect-arrested-193966081.html
And I'll bet the reason why the police caught up with Harris so quickly is because they told the surviving passengers that if they didn't rat him out, they'd be facing charges of obstructing justice at best and being an accessory after the fact at worst.

Las Vegas police said the carnage began with an argument in the valet parking area...at Aria's Haze nightclub...(for)...a performance by rapper French Montana...The police report said Harris arrived at the Aria about 1:30 a.m. with three women. They were escorted into the Haze nightclub. Cherry and Walters arrived shortly before 4 a.m., and were in Cherry's Maserati leaving the valet only 15 minutes later.
...Harris approached the driver's door of Cherry's Maserati, paused for a second or two, and then continued into the Aria...It is believed a prostitute was at the center of their exchange.
A taxi surveillance camera recorded the sounds of two gunshots at 4:19 a.m. and 4:24 a.m. Shortly after, three more gunshots were heard on the video...Freddy Walters, 26, the passenger in Cherry's Maserati, was shot in the arm, and transported to UMC...
So it was a pimp war -- Kenny Clutch's poor little rich father is going to have to face the truth now. And after taxes owed, legal fees, child support, and any civil actions against his son's assets, there probably won't be much of an estate left.

WECT.com:Jurors reached guilty verdicts for all charges against Ammar Harris for his role in a car-to-car shooting and resulting fiery crash that took place on the Las Vegas Strip...
The 29-year-old self-described pimp is accused of shooting from a black SUV...mortally wounding aspiring rapper (and rival pimp) Kenneth Cherry Jr. ...(whose) car sped through a red light and crashed into a taxi, igniting a fireball that killed driver Michael Boldon and passenger Sandra Sutton-Wasmund, who was visiting Las Vegas...
Harris maintains that someone in the sports car shot at him, but police didn't find a weapon..."It certainly isn't about any sense of danger he was facing that night," said prosecutor Pamela Weckerly. "The only danger he was facing was maybe a bruised ego."
Jurors heard a week of testimony from dozens of prosecution witnesses before Harris decided last week not to take the stand in his defense...(He) was convicted on three counts of murder and a count of attempted murder (and) now faces the death penalty.
Vegas Review Journal:
Ammar Harris was sentenced to death Wednesday for killing three people on the Las Vegas Strip. Harris refused to appear in court this week for the three days of testimony and argument during the penalty hearing.
Defense lawyer Robert Langford, who had argued that Harris was acting in self-defense...had asked jurors for a sentence of "something less than the death penalty."
