Mindy McCready, Country Singer, Dead at 37
Source: E! Entertainment News
It's been a difficult month for Mindy McCready, and unfortunately, E! News has learned that the country singer's life has come to end far too soon.
A source close to the 37-year-old tells us her body was found in Heber Springs, Ark.
"Things have been hectic. But I'm still here..," the star tweeted in January.
Just a little over a month ago, McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34 with no cause of death or details surrounding his passing being revealed, however continues to be under investigation.

(13,616 posts)to the point where she had lasting brain damage. Dr. Drew even said he was amazed that she had not had further complications, though she did have terrible seizures. I hope her death had nothing to do with that,as it would mean her scum boyfriend managed to kill her beyond the grave.

(5,857 posts)brain damage may not just manifest itself in physical symptoms -- and in fact it would seem to me that it would impair cognition first.

(708 posts)It was Billy McKnight who beat her up so badly. It was David Wilson whom she was dating who died last month, apparently from suicide as well.

(24,436 posts)I had heard that she had a history of substance abuse problems and mental health concerns. Not one of her biggest fans but I did like some of her earlier music (i.e. Ten Thousand Angels). R.I.P.

(4,869 posts)And there's a fine line between going through with it and not. Sometimes the darkness and bleakness becomes too heavy, RIP.
Apparently she had children, tragic.

(46,416 posts)she had her one or two big songs, and we used to watch CMT. Sad to hear this--sounds like she had a messed up life.

(69,014 posts)I don't fault her. I even know one case where the owner set aside money, appointed a guardian for her pets but they were still abandoned and left to starve. (Most were rescued in a very illegal guerrilla operation of which I know from nothing. Who knows where skinny animals come from?)

(7,349 posts)And I doubt that occured to the selfish bitch. I'm not inclined to look for goodness in people who kill not only other people, but innocent creatures as well.

(14,061 posts)A very, very sad case even then. She had a promising career, but then her mother died and things just spiraled out of control after that.
Peace be with her family.

(22,000 posts)Never heard of it, but it sounds like a train wreck of a program.
AngryOldDem
(14,061 posts)It featured his clinic and it followed a handful of addicted celebrities through the eight-week (I think it was eight-week) program. In the beginning I thought it was interesting (I was studying addictions at the time) but later seasons, to me, began to get a little too exploitative for the sake of a good story. You don't use people -- especially people going through substance withdrawal -- that way.
I have no idea if it's even on anymore.
McCready isn't the first alum of the show to die: Mike Starr of Alice in Chains and Jeff Conaway, as well as a couple others I can't remember off hand. That said, though, there were some who you just knew probably weren't going to make it. To me, Mindy McCready was one of them.

(12,296 posts)... he did 1 season of 'just regular people rehab' and it bombed.
I think McCready is the 4th or 5th of his 'graduates' to not make it past 2 years.

Jeff Conaway
The steroid addicted guy from Big Brother

Jason London was just in a bad accident & arrested ...
... not sure if there was anyone else ...

(51,658 posts)I don't know why E! said the cause of her boyfriend's death was unknown. HuffPo reports it was another gun suicide.

Having a gun in the house makes depression much more fatal...because it makes suicide five times more likely.

(708 posts)It seems pretty apparent that he killed himself, but the Arkansas authorities haven't officially closed the case yet, so technically, the news has to report it as "unknown."
