Greens to rally on Mall to demand climate specifics from Obama
Source: The Hill
More than 20,000 protestors from around 160 organizations will swarm the National Mall Sunday in hopes of intensifying the pressure on President Obama over climate policy.
.......
Were really past the point of playing games with any of this stuff, climate activist and 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben said in a Friday press call. Theres no time for half measures.
McKibben said buses from 31 states are hauling people to Washington for the rally, which 350.org, Sierra Club and a number of other environmental and progressive groups are spearheading.
Participants will meet at noon near the Washington Monument, where speakers such as McKibben, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and others will address the crowd before marching on the White House.

(135,425 posts)Obama came out and made the climate a "key topic" of his second term, and, ignoring that, a bunch of people get out there and protest.... him.
Where are the people protesting his pre-K initiative....that's how much sense it makes, but hey, he's for it, now's as good a time as any to gripe that he's not doing enough!
I have no objection to people protesting the pipeline, or fracking, or other issues, but when they make it about Obama (when it's Congress that creates law--where are the anti-Boner signs?) I smell a stench. It doesn't smell like an honest stench, either.
Where were these people when Al Gore was robbed?

(431 posts)On Sunday, February 17th, thousands will rally in Washington, D.C. to call on President Obama to make climate change part of his presidential legacy. The Forward on Climate Rally is being held by 350.org, The Sierra Club, and the Hip-Hop Caucus.
The Rally will demand that President Obama prove his leadership on serious climate action by officially rejecting TransCanadas proposal to build the Keystone XL Pipeline across the U.S.-Canadian border. The KXL Pipeline would transport emissions-intensive tar sands oil across the U.S. Midwest to the Gulf of Mexico. In late 2011, over 15,000 people surrounded the White House pushing President Obama to deny the KXL Pipeline.

(16,926 posts)The headline has apparently been changed to show "Green Groups". Not that anyone actually taking the short time to read the article would have had any confusion about it.

(1,687 posts)It says, "The rally will put Obama in the crosshairs on climate change." Putting Obama in the "crosshairs" may incite radical elements to try an assasination attempt. It these dangerous times, we don't need reckless publications like The Hill inciting the crazies.
