Minneapolis cop charged with 6 felonies in sexual contact with girls ages 12-14

A Minneapolis police officer was charged Friday with having sexual encounters -- either physical or virtual -- with several girls between the ages of 12 and 14, incidents initiated through social media.
Bradley Schnickel, 32, of Andover, faces three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree and three of engaging in electronic communication relating or describing sexual conduct with a child.
Authorities in Anoka County say there are four victims in the case and possibly more. Prosecutor Paul Young said in court that about a week ago, Schnickel tracked down the girls and tried to persuade them to change their stories.
Schnickel, who is married, is being held in jail in lieu of $500,000 unconditional bail. He also has been ordered to have no contact with girls, including his two daughters. He must turn over any firearms. His next court date is March 6.
Soon after the charges, the Minneapolis Police Department said that Schnickel was no longer employed as of Friday. "We can't elaborate on if he was fired, resigned, terminated, etc.," said Police Sgt. Stephen McCarty.

(53,661 posts)Looks as if the PD are taking this very seriously, having fired him and ordered his guns taken away. None of the typical 'suspended with pay' in this case. There may be a boatload of charges filed.

(2,818 posts)It is well to recall that the psychological profile which best fits with that of the habitual criminal is that of a cop.
Both score very highly on authoritarianism, bullying, intimidation, and violence.

(53,035 posts)It doesn't get the national press that LAPD does, but the FBI are always investigating the Minneapolis police. They don't solve crimes, can't be bothered to do anything about auto theft and burglaries, but love to harass people of color walking down the street.
