LINCOLN Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy resigned his post abruptly Saturday after questions were raised by The World-Herald about improper cell phone calls to four women, other than his wife, during the past four years.
An investigation by The World-Herald discovered that Sheehy made thousands of late-night telephone calls to the women on his state-issued cell phone, many of them long conversations held in the wee hours of the night.
Gov. Dave Heineman announced the resignation at a 10 a.m. press conference.
"I've got a knot in my stomach. I'm deeply disappointed. He's done a lot of good things for the state, but that trust was broken, and he's resigned," Heineman said.

UPDATED: Bellevue doctor Hatcher says Sheehy promised marriage
By Paul Hammel
Rick Sheehy promised marriage.
A Bellevue doctor who was one of Sheehy's telephone friends says the two had a longterm relationship and that the former lieutenant governor told her they would marry one day.
Dr. Theresa Hatcher, a former Bellevue City Council member, was one of the four women that Sheehy frequently called, according to a World-Herald review of his telephone records.
She talked with Sheehy 367 times, mostly from 2009 through 2011.

(12,882 posts)Ya know - I've been on Earth for 68 years now. In my lower middle class existence, I've had two wives and never dallied behind their backs (or in front of their backs for that matter!). And spending my days with working class folks - I've only known two guys who had extra-marital doings. And yet - it seems like every WEEK we hear of another guy in a position of power that can't keep his hands out of the pastry display case! And it DOES seem like the preponderance of these liasons are Righties. Either Democrats are smarter - or their just craftier about their pursuits. Let's hope Michelle keeps Barack on a short leash! LOL!

(7,218 posts)I've been collecting these stories for years, ever since the Bill and Monica saga. I keep them in a file I titled "Republican Family Values". The file only contains Republicans because it was only Republicans that ran for public office on the plank they there were more moral than Democrats, more Christian, more American, more patriotic, and their holier-than-thou, "Christian" All-American crap they have spouted for years. It is my way of getting back at them. I have not counted the total number of entries I have in some time, but I do know that there are more than 1,000 of them! To be "fair" to Republicans, the names I have only go back to about 1993 when the Reich-wingers started in on Bill Clinton and they started claiming the moral high ground.
That said, your comment: "...the preponderance of these liaisons are Righties" is, to my experience, correct. While I do find Democrats, overwhelmingly my finds are Republicans.

(10,000 posts)Most corporate and state plans in this day and age allow for personal use. That's like saying making a personal call from work is stealing. In a sense, it is true, but it's no more true than goofing off at the water cooler discussing the SUper Bowl is stealing or looking up movie times on your company's internet is stealing.
Smart companies have recognized this and abandoned the company phone model in place of BYOD -- bring your own device. You get an allowance -- go pick a phone and a plan.
Seriously -- I want to get rid of Republiscum as much as the next DUer, but he's done nothing that I see that rises to the level of firing or prosecution. Heck, David Vitter gets to keep his job.

I bet he was breaking some obscure law AND KNEW IT, or violating some rule that he made sure everybody else had to follow. That's how these people work.
Plus, he probably had about 4 extramarital affairs going at the same time. Wifey can't be too pleased.
