Republicans gather at former plantation to discuss minority outreach

Source: RawStory

After its general election battering, the Republican party has retreated to lick its wounds and ponder what went wrong – on the leafy grounds of a luxury golf resort in Virginia.

And what better place for today’s GOP to hold strategy sessions titled “Successful communication with minorities and women” than on the grounds of a former plantation in the south?

“When the first English foot was placed in Virginia, it was here on these grounds that once served as a central part of the area’s plantation life in the 1600s through 1800s,” boasts the website of the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, which draws a discrete veil over whatever events in the 1800s may have caused that to end.

But tradition lives on in the name of the resort’s Plantation Golf Course and the 374-seat Burwell Plantation Room – where, as luck would have it, the forum on minorities and women was to be held.

First off wow, just wow. This is the core of the party and this is how they regroup. If the Dems don't broadcast this to anyone and everyone in the country they will be missing out on broadcasting the Repubs true nature.

I doubt saying "Repukes hold their "outreach meeting" at the same plantation Obama went to for his debate prep" will have the desired effect.

What idiots, like this wasn't going to get out and blacks and Latinos and Asians weren't going to hear about where they were meeting. Are they that clueless that they don't know this is wrong, or are they still sending the same exclusionary message? Whatever it is, it's GIANT FAIL. Please keep it up repugs until the 2014 elections, just like you're bungling the gun control issue and the fiscal cliff issue and the Hurricane Sandy aid issue and budget ceiling issue.

Looks like I was wrong about Republicans being con-artists. Maybe they genuinely are stupid and tone-deaf about their views on minorities, especially if they're holding an outreach program for us at a place that is widely considered the symbol of blacks not having any rights.

And what would Republican ideas for communicating with minorities and women include? Some suggested section headings:

"How to talk jive"
"Using small words that women and brown people can understand"
"How to redefine rape without making women hysterical"
"How to promise free stuff to moochers, without having to deliver"

and a very popular one:

"How to discourage women and minorities from voting"
