Lost Coast area comes to mind; I like the way the wind blows there.

But I guess the prisoners in Taft can be rest assured their stay will not be impacted much. The oil wells will be safe, too.

I am sick and tired of gun lovers defending their precious guns when kids can't even go to school anymore without worrying about getting shot.

Too many gun lovers are more concerned with quibbling over semantics and wording, dismissing anybody out of hand who isn't an expert on various types of assault weapons and assault rifles.

I'm tired of hearing people say that getting rid of guns wouldn't solve anything, that there are too many guns, that it's pointless to even do anything now.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

KBAK News:

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Officials from Southern California colleges and schools are being trained in how to survive an attack by a campus gunman.

A two-day seminar concluded Tuesday with a simulated gunman stalking a dormitory at San Diego State University. About two dozen participants from school districts and universities in San Diego County, Los Angeles and Bakersfield, along with some police and private security personnel, took part.

They practiced barricading doors, hiding, escaping and confronting the gunman.

The seminar was planned months before December's Connecticut school massacre.

Although your post is dripping with sarcasm, I'm sure there are already plenty of gun nuts claiming that this is just another Obama hoax (along with last month's shooting) in an attempt to drum up support for gun control.

Read my post again.

I was referring to gun nuts who claim the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax orchestrated by the Obama administration in an effort to drum up support for gun control.

Seems like you just made a knee-jerk response to my post title without even bothering to read the post.

...It sure seems to be true, or at least I haven't seen a denial or correction, yet.

But be that as it may...

Something has to change. 2 more individuals added to the body counts, plus or minus, still aren't going to change the profile of the United States, compared to other developed countries:

[div class="excerpt" style="margin-left: 1em; border: 2px solid #6600cc; border-radius: 0.4615em; box-shadow: 6px 6px 6px #999999;"]...the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, a non-profit organization, points out that Americans still kill each other with guns at a level that is staggering compared to the rest of humanity.

A study in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery found that the gun murder rate in the U.S. is almost 20 times higher than the next 22 richest and most populous nations combined.

Among the world’s 23 wealthiest countries, 80 percent of all gun deaths are American deaths and 87 percent of all kids killed by guns are American kids....

It's already illegal to take a gun on a school campus. That does not seem to stop the problem. So, what are more laws going to do to really help this???

And, no, I'm not a gun nut.

Yeah, about 10 million American parents have guns and teen or young adult children, think about it.

Amazing work by these people who intervened.

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2013/01/10/two-reported-hurt-in-california-school-shooting/?hpt=hp_t1

From another source -
The teacher in the classroom, along with a campus supervisor, "engaged" the shooter with conversation as students were evacuating, according to Youngbood. At one point the shooter put the shotgun down, and officers were able to take him into custody. The gunman's identity has not been released, however he was described as a 16-year-old male student who lives near the school, NBCLosAngeles.com reported.

"We want to commend the teacher and a campus supervisor to bring this to a quick resolution," Taft Police Chief Ed Whiting said. "They did a great job in protecting the kids."
