Gulf Coast Lawmaker Votes Against Sandy Relief
Source: TPM
TOM KLUDT 3:01 PM EST, FRIDAY JANUARY 4, 2013
Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS), whose Mississippi district is situated on the Gulf Coast, was one of 67 Republicans on Friday to vote against a $9.7 billion relief package to victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Mississippis Fourth Congressional District, which Palazzo has represented since 2011, includes the city of Biloxi, one of the most heavily damaged communities in the region by Hurricane Katrina. Congress quickly passed an initial $10.5 billion relief package in the immediate aftermath of Katrina in September of 2005. Palazzos predecessor, former Rep. Gene Taylor (D-MS), supported that legislation.
The Sandy relief legislation passed overwhelmingly on Friday, with the only no votes coming from Republican members.
Palazzo's office did not immediately respond to TPM's requests for comment.

(37,152 posts)...who vote no on everything but sit back and watch their states take more than they contribute to the federal gov't - which means blue states are bailing their sorry asses out.

(2,586 posts)Sure he was "voted" in by probably about 20% of eligible voters in the district. But the solution is to put money in the hands of organized opposition, rather than to oppose otherwise good legislation (or sufficiently good legislation) to punish the politician
I remember being disgusted by then-Secretary Albright in the much more extreme case of her comments that if the Iraqi people didn't like the (genocidal) sanctions being applied to Iraq before the oil-for-food program, they should throw Saddam Hussein out.

(1 post)Don't blame everyone in the Great State of Mississippi Just because this incompetent Jackass opened his BIG Mouth ! I am sure that nobody in our state would stop the funds for disaster relief , after all why would we ? But we can vote a person out just as we can vote them in , and I am sure you can consider that already done !

(54,256 posts)Among Alabama's delegation, U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt, Spencer Bachus, Mike Rogers, Martha Roby and Terri Sewell all voted in favor the bill. Sewell, of Birmingham, is the state's lone Democratic representative in D.C.
U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Mobile, was one of nine House members who did not vote on the legislation. A spokesman for Bonner said he supported the bill but was unable to vote due to a personal matter in Mobile.
fuck palazzo
(1 post)Palazzo should be removed from the list of ANYONE in Mississippi getting ANY
relief from the US government for ANY disaster. See how his constituents vote then.
Screw these idiots. He makes my skin crawl.
