"Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Thursday that he plans to deploy his armed volunteer posse to protect Valley schools from the kind of violence that happened in the Connecticut shooting tragedy. Arpaio believes having armed law officers around schools will deter would-be criminals from trying anything violent and, possibly, stop them if they do.

“I have the authority to mobilize private citizens and fight crime in this county,” Arpaio said."

Holy Crap! State of AZ goes even more nuts today! Sane people are an endangered species in my state, based on the comments under the article! The Posse is made up of volunteers, not certified LEO's. These are not sworn officers, or deputies. There are problems there with liability and such.

I believe that the schools are under the control of the state and not the county, which means that the current laws pertaining to weapons are state laws...which means this group of vigilantes can't enter school property because they are not certified LEO's!

Knowing how much land that Maricopa County covers...there better be several thousand members of this "Posse"! And we have the issue of local police forces not connected to Arpaio and his goons...police forces that Arpaio has pissed on during his time as sheriff.

The man is a walking cluster fuck and possibly an embezzler...because to this day no one has ever investigated where all the money he's "saving" the county has gone.
