John Boehner has a Real Reason to Cry, Is Voted Most Unpopular Member of Congress
Source: Gawker
Long reviled by Democrats, John Boehner is now getting some hate from his own party. Yes, the tearful and fearless leader of the Republicans in the House is learning the hard way that having a complete disregard for economic principles isn't beneficial to your popularity.
In a new poll released Friday by Rasmussen Reports, Boehner was given the lowest approval rating of any Congressional leader. Yes, he's even more unpopular than the perennial band geek of Congress, Nancy Pelosi.
According to the Huffington Post, "Fifty-one percent of likely voters rated Boehner unfavorably, giving him a net favorability rating of negative 20."
49 percent of people polled said that they viewed Vice President Joe Biden favorably, which made him the only legislator with a net positive rating in the poll. It's worth nothing that as Vice President, Biden is the president of the Senate and only is allowed to vote in rare circumstances.

(7,403 posts)Ever had his own bill fail because his own party gave him a no confidence vote? The appropriate and honorable step for Boehner under this circumstance would be to resign and hand the Speakership over to someone else. We will see what happens when Congress comes back to town next Wednesday. It could be interesting. Who will emerge to lead the House Republicans going forward? Odds are that it will not be Boehner.
We will go over the "cliff". What will a new Congress do starting January 4th? The Republicans have some thinking to do. The Hassert Rule has to be tossed so a handfull of Republicans can join a majority of Democrats and pass a bill that the President can sign. McConnell has been coy about allowing such a measure to come to a vote in the Senate without a filibuster. Having seen what happened to Boehner, I don't think McConnell will want to fall on that same sword.

(17,390 posts)... Indeed, the whole purpose of Plan B, was to show that Republicans were not religiously bound to Saint Grover Norquist and the idol of tax cuts for the rich. Well, instead the whole thing backfires, and Republicans reveal that they are willing to throw 98 percent of the Nation under the bus for the benefit of the richest 2 percent.
