Cory Booker To Run For Senate In 2014: Sources
Source: Huffington Post
Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) will not challenge Gov. Chris Christie (R) in 2013, choosing instead to seek Democrat Frank Lautenberg's Senate seat in 2014, according to NBC 4 New York.
Sources told PolitickerNJ.com Booker would pass up the chance to challenge Christie, whose approval rating hit a high point after his actions in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Booker called Democratic party leaders Thursday morning to inform them of his plans, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Booker said earlier he was "absolutely considering" a gubernatorial run, calling Christie "vulnerable." Elizabeth, N.J. Mayor Chris Bollwage (D) told The Huffington Post Booker's past uncertainty on his future plans had "frozen" the state's Democratic Party.

Smart. Sadly, Christie will probably be re-elected.
Ugh.

(1,635 posts)That is where restraint for the piggies is needed. He'll show them! Booker will be a national senate race and he will WIN! Go Booker!
Any chance he'll be ready to run for President by 2016? He's everything that can win.

(9,893 posts)I wish that he would change parties.
Let the Dems run an actual Dem for Lautenberg's seat.

(10,704 posts)Always a mystery.
Booker is good although less than he seems and useless on education.
Christie is another matter and with his latest salvo about what it means to be an American he is clearly on to something useful/ valuable.
Blue states/ Red states: we are all Americans etc. (Such thinking seems heretical in the TeaBag nation.)
Real question is: When will mainstream GOP slice off (dump, marginalize the TeaBaggers?) Or is there no "mainstream " GOP left? While it is wonderful for the TeaBaggers to float off into never-never land we actually do need a loyal opposition. A one party government is not an ideal. And a factionalized demParty is not something we seek right now.
