Poll: Republicans think anti-tax pledge is bad idea

Source: Washington Post

A large majority of registered voters, including 77 percent of Republicans, say it’s a bad idea for members of Congress to sign a pledge to never raise taxes on the wealthy, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

Overall, 85 percent of voters said it’s a bad idea to sign a pledge to an anti-tax group opposing taxes on corporations or the wealthy under any circumstance.

It’s worth noting that the actual pledge that most Republican members of Congress have signed is a ban on all tax increases; it does not single out the wealthy as Quinnipiac did.

In general, 65 percent of respondents supported higher tax rates for those earning more than $250,000 per year. Sixty-seven percent opposed eliminating the home mortgage interest tax deduction, and 70 percent oppose Medicaid funding cuts. Opinion on gradually raising the Medicare eligibility age is more evenly split; 51 percent oppose.

Shows the Pukes really don't understand how most of this country thinks. It is interesting though that the number against raising the Medicare age isn't higher.

and increase participation by older and more prone to illness to medicare.
Medicaid is another story, some give their assets to children; then children throw their parents on medicaid homes at $10,000 a month.

Nice to see the prez's rating up so high! I've sensed some of that post-election hysteria dying down a bit, up here in the boonies where I live, where a month ago some of the looniest losers were considering creeping thru the (now-snow-covered) Cascades to escape into Canada. A slight change of tune is happening, as I guess preventing the fall off a fiscal cliff is more desirable than tumbling off a real one.

The bears would appreciate having a body to scavenge, if the worst happened, though.

and I think another foot fell up there just last night, so if any of them think sneaking thru the North Cascades a better bet than President Obama, let the bears have 'em, ha!

Our foothills are covered now, think the snow level was down to 2000 ft today.

That man has done tremendous harm to this country.

The sooner America realizes what he has done, the sooner we can get back on track.

For the life of me I don't understand how he has lasted this long.
