Reacting for the first time to former President Donald Trumps vow to order the Justice Department to investigate his political opponents, FBI Director Christopher Wray said he would not allow his agents to conduct any investigation that doesnt comply with our rules, our procedures, our best practices, our core values.
In an interview Tuesday with NBC News' Lester Holt at FBI headquarters, Wray said that, as long as he is FBI director, he is going to make sure
we do the right thing in the right way." "And that means following the law, following our rules, staying faithful to our core values, enforcing the law without fear or favor," he added.
FBI rules prohibit agents from opening an investigation without evidence of criminality, and Justice Department rules say agents may never make a decision regarding an investigation or prosecution for the purpose of giving an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate or political party.
Wray was appointed by Trump to a 10-year term in 2017. Asked if he would want to continue serving as FBI director if Trump was re-elected, Wray responded, Im enjoying doing this job. I love the people, the men and women of the FBI, who are some of the finest people Ive ever had a chance to work with. And as long as I think I can continue doing that in a way that adheres to all those rules and norms, its what Id like to keep doing.

(102,357 posts)Not saying I'd trust everything he says or that Wray is on any kind of major approval list for me, but no. I do not think he is a BILL BARR, nor necessarily even as compliant as Jeff Sessions--and certainly no Jeffrey Clarke, Stephen Miller, Kash Patel...
But, yeah. Wray would be out of there if Trump somehow ends back in the WH.
Think. Again.
(8,392 posts)...so he's extremely comfortable with lying.
It's what they do. Yes, magats are off the charts, but rightwingers, conservatives, whatever you want to call them are deceitful, malicious people, that's why they are not on the left.

(52,317 posts)there was no evidence of a breach, no evidence of criminal intent, no violation of law or policy, no evidence that any classified information existed on her servers, nothing.
they investigated it all *hoping* to find something criminal, had to retroactively classify information in order to build a case, and it still didn't rise to even a single indictment. but there was nothing even close to probable cause prior to the investigation.
and of course they didn't investigate powell or rice who did the same thing.
so i call horsesh*t on the notion that the fbi won't ever investigate political rivals, they've already done it.
second, all this means is that, should donnie manage to re-steal the oval office, wray would be forced out and replaced with a trump loyalist who will do exactly what donnie wants.
