Bernie Moreno wins Ohio Senate Republican primary, setting up high-stakes battle in November

Businessman Bernie Moreno will face Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, this fall after winning Ohios combative Republican U.S. Senate primary on Tuesday.
He defeated state Sen. Matt Dolan and Secretary of State Frank LaRose in a contest that pitted the GOPs old guard against allies of former President Donald Trump.
Results are unofficial until the votes are canvassed after election day.
Tuesday's election concluded a tight race that became increasingly vicious in its final weeks. The candidates and their allies spent millions of dollars to spar on the airwaves as they clamored for voters support. Most attacks centered around the candidates conservative credentials and whether theyd have Trumps back if hes reelected in November.

(12,372 posts)He will need to be quick with associating this car salesman with his mentor, tRump...especially as the tRump trials or maybe a trial comes forward....
I live in Ohio and the MAGAS are loyal to their master.

(18,628 posts)But then a PAC controlled by Chuck Schumer dumped over $2mil into ads against Moreno. Though they were against him they used psy-ops to stress his ties to Trump and touting his conservatism, just the things Ohio republican voters would like.
It's believed Dolan would have been tough to beat, but Bernie Moreno has more skeletons in his closet than horror movie director. Plus, it's generally believed that as time goes on, the bloom will come off the Trump endorsement blossom. And Moreno is all in on that.
