Brother of Congressman Dan Kildee killed, suspect in custody

FLINT, MI – The victim in an early-morning homicide in Vienna Township Tuesday was the brother of U.S. Rep Dan Kildee, Genesee County law enforcement officials announced at a Tuesday, March 19, news conference.

Timothy Kildee was shot and killed at his home in the 9000 block of Neff Road on March 19, Sheriff Chris Swanson said.

The suspect in the homicide is Timothy Kildee’s 27-year-old family member who Swanson did not identify because he has not been formally charged.

“Our family is grieving and heartbroken,” Kildee, a Flint Township Congressman, wrote in a statement. “There are no words to describe the loss of a beloved brother and family member, especially in such a terrible tragedy.

I've lost so many relatives, friends and colleagues that I haven't been able to bear another funeral since 1989. At one point, I attended 20 funerals in a little over a year.

Call it straws and camel backs, but it simply got to be too much to endure.
